Watching this week's House and NCIS back-to-back has caused me to... can't... not... trying to...

I'M SORRY I CAN'T NOT CAPSLOCK OH MY HEART

I MEAN DO THE WRITERS OF BOTH SHOWS COLLABORATE EVERY WEEK? WHAT IS UP

Okay, no, breathing. Sorry, too much squee.

House 5x04 (Birthmarks) + NCIS 6x04 (Heartland): So! Much! Happiness!

Okay, so House and Wilson take a road trip to Lexington to bury House's dad, as the NCIS team take a road trip to Stillwater and discover Gibbs' dad. Both House and Gibbs have daddy issues up the wazoo, although House is a far bigger freak, clipping his dead Daddy's EAR (pull some hair! It's right there! Is there a reason he didn't that I'm missing?)

Both episodes mentioned the first of three wives (Wilson's first, Gibbs' first), and okay, I may be forcing the parallel just a little, but Gibbs kept talking about people lying to him and then but someone on NCIS - I think Gibbs' dad? - said "Well, you can't always get what you want" and I pretty much lost it.

Okay, and now separately, because I'm losing track of myself:

House: Oh, love, so much love. House and Wilson. I was captivated by every scene, and I LOVE the story of how they met with the twist of House being the guy who bailed him out of jail, and I love Cuddy drugging him, and I love the road trip, and that last scene in the office - no, before that, the scene in the diner - my sister and I were gripping each other and squeeing so loud we could barely hear the dialogue. The final twist, House not being John's son at all - caught me COMPLETELY by surprise, and I wonder if John knew, if he truly believed it. House was an incredible jerk, childish and messed up and just the way I love him (and want to slap him, but that's a given).

And the ducklings! Oh my god, Chase got a line! Lounging around at an admittance desk, hanging out in reception, Foreman coming to them not just for advice about the case (yay!) but just to share how incredibly screwed up House is. And the new ducklings were adorable (Kutner! Adopted when he was nine, which means he spent three years in foster homes) and smart (Bubbles!) and the case was actually pretty cool.

And oh, did I mention the road trip? <3<3<3 I must be forgetting things. There was just so much good in these episodes. And House is a bastard. Oh my god, House is an actual bastard.

Next, there was NCIS: Wow, I think I've just let all my squee out on House, let me remember what went on.

Oh, yes: THE CAR. Gibbs grinning like a kid, what an utter joy to watch. And the team's excitement about being in Stillwater and meeting Gibbs' dad! Who's actually a pretty sweet guy, and it was hard to fit this image of him with the one they were trying to paint, the inconsiderate guy who brought a date to the funeral... and okay, the characterization of both of them was a little inconsistent: I find it hard to believe that Gibbs would hold such a grudge that he actually hasn't spoken to his dad for so many years, and hadn't visited the town in 30, but whatever. Young Gibbs is so cute! And the flashback to Shannon - she taught him the rules! - was so, so sweet. And reminded me of the revelation that SPN's Mary was a hunter, and I hope I'm not spoiling anyone with that. But. So sweet! Although actually, the first time he flashed to the memory Gibbs' dad had just yelled something like "Don't do anything stupid!" and then they showed him staring at the dresses in the shop window and I thought his dad's warning was against trying on women's clothes.

Ahem, anyway. A ton of cute team moments. Speaking simultaneously. "We are being watched." Tony using Google. Um. And more. (And hee, "You make them call you boss?" I loved that, just for the outsider's view - of someone who knew him as LJ, not Gibbs.)

[Poll #1278986]

This is why God said Tuesdays are twice as good. No, really.

And in general, it seems like things are looking up for my flist - many people are posting happy things, which makes me happy, and it rained by our sukkah was impervious and the chains are as pretty as ever, and later tonight I am going to a scifi/fantasy convention to see what they have to say about slash in "fan literature" with [livejournal.com profile] sabrina_il. And I went to the mall for shoes and returned with 700 shekels-worth of sweaters and skirts instead, but I am excited to wear them. All is well.
