Heroes 3x01-3x02: Wow, this show has gotten weirder and weirder. I'm... not even sure why I watch it, really. There's the whole insanely complicated storyarc - arcs - which, frankly, Lost does better, even when they're not doing it well. Like, with Lost, I'll go "OMG WTF?!?!", and with Heroes I'll go "wtf, man? *eyeroll*".
I realize new superpowers are a hard thing to invent, but now that I'm familiar with more comic book characters I'm all the more aware of it. So now we have a Flash character and Niki's a new Iceman? Woman?
Mrs. Petrelli continues to freak me out. And all the prisoners released from that prison just... their behavior doesn't make any sense. Why, exactly, are they villains? Why would they escape prison and immediately go on a killing and destroying wreckage, without even trying to lay low for a while? I thought characters on this show were supposed to be a little more three-dimensional than that, but I guess not.
Ando was (as usual) adorable, and I hate the writers a little for having Hiro doubt him - their relationship was one of the rocks of the show! And Ando's such a good boy. If anything, I'm guessing future Hiro was the one who'd gone bad. I just hate that Hiro doesn't trust him now :-(
Matt Parkman a ray of light in this episode. Because... well, because he didn't suck. And he wasn't stupid. Like, say, Mohinder. Look, he's a good looking guy, but I dislike gratuitous nudity scenes like the one he had as much as I would have had it been a gaggle of bikini-clad models. Please don't write entire scenes just so you can show us Mohinder Suresh's body. (Not when it comes at the expense of his brain cells.)
Wow, that was three times as much attention as I was planning on giving this episode.
HIMYM 4.01:
I was so scared of how they were going to handle Barney and Robin, and Barney laughing at "Boogieman with a teleprompter" was almost too painful to watch, but I shouldn't have feared, because these writers and this cast and NPH could make anything awesome. And NPH, man, he gave it all this episode. His legs having a life of their own as he leaned on the counter, and the expression on his face when he turned the TV on to watch Robin's edition? Sigh. ♥
Really, every single Barney/Lily scene was gold, and I love them both so much right now.
Favorite lines:
-"I could tell you knew something was up with me, and you're right -- but I can't tell you what it is! I should tell you; but I can't, I have to, I never will! I'm going to -- let's just drop it, what's up with you?"
-"Barney, how can you be in love with Robin and still sleep with everything that moves?"
"I'm sorry, I don't follow you -- that's like saying 'how can an ant carry twenty times its body weight but root beer floats are still delicious?' Are the two even related?"
-That noise he made leaving Robin a "voicemail"
-?
!
"Sweet."
-Barney's... I have to say it, his Captain Hammer voice when he
-AND EVERYTHING ELSE.
Not favorite bit: Oh, Robin, why you gotta be a wingman now? The moment she left to go to the bathroom I started going nonononono, although I thought she was gonna come back with a guy for herself. I suppose this was better.
And as for Stella - she's cute! I don't think she's the mother, and I'm starting to think whoever the mother is it's gonna be very anticlimatic, but I still think she's sweet, and she's got a really cute laugh.
Best slapstick this episode - Marshall popping up from behind the couch. Thank you, show, for making me hurt my face laughing.
SGA 5.09 - "Tracker":...I watched this yesterday and already forgot what I was going to say. I liked Keller here a lot, and I liked Rodney and Ronon but especially liked Kiryk, and okay, I know he's not gonna appear again, but I hop he appears again in fic! Because he was an awesome character. His interaction with Keller was great - he wasn't stupid, and she was honest with him, and he was willing enough to trust her on the spot. (Also, hey, way to go Keller for carrying a defibrillator in your medpack).
Ronon and Rodney were bitchier to one another than I'd have expected them to be at this stage of their relationship - really, they've known each other for a long time, you'd think they wouldn't have anything else to prove. But that last scene at the gym was great - first of all, Ronon looked insanely pretty in the sunlight, and his small grin was adorable, as was the fact that he himself was confused about whether he had "intentions" towards Keller. I think Ronon being in the competition kind of negatively highlights the age difference between Keller and Rodney, but Rodney's more compatible on a mental and social-awkwardness level.
However, if I had to choose which of them should be with her... I'd go with Kiryk :-)

Matt's always been awesome. In fact, this episode, he was awesome awesome. Someone else made a couple of Great God Om jokes, and I kinda want to see that crossover now.

Oh, dude, how did I not think of that? That is seriously awesome. Yes.
The prisoners... I dunno. I mean, you make sense, it just seems like waaaay to simplistic characterization - basically it means that they are just 100% evil, maybe even animals, the way they were shown. I know the characterization in this show is shallow, but still, it usually shows people with more shades of gray...

They probably weren't evil when they started out with their powers, but it's my theory that any empathy for others got tossed aside during the time they were kept downstairs. I was thinking their actions were more them lashing out in anger - the flamethrower guy especially, given that he was doing his best to torch his cell and then started setting people at the gas station on fire.

ETA: Oh, and YES to Matt in the APCW. Just... yes.

They'd call someone over from the UU to see if he's an untrained wizard or vampire. And then Vimes would hire him for interrogations. Fabricati Diem, Pvnc. *stares* Best photo of GG I have ever seen.

Grunberg's a broad, big man, but a lot of people confuse that with "fat." So I guess people who are used to photographing, say, Milo Ventimiglia, don't know what to do with him.

I was a little worried how they would handle the Barney/Robin, too, and I'm so glad in the end Barney was still... Barney. Robin doesn't want a Ted clone. She likes Barney Just The Way He Is.
(De--wait for it--lightful. Delightful! Hee.)

Man, I love Heroes, but, yeah, it was pretty bad. It was cool, I guess, but it was pretty bad. I'm not thinking about it too hard. My questions are more along the lines of: when did Maya have time to get a haircut? And Elle? Why did Claire change her cellphone, which was a different one just the other day, timeline-wise? Why was super!Mohinder all "this wonderful body of yours" (blergh)? Did they really get rid of Molly? Did they really kill Bob?
Ok, so maybe I'm thinking about it a little. I should stop.

Wow, do I not care if they killed Bob - he creeped me out.
I was, however, surprised to read that Adam made an appearance in the ep, because I didn't notice him. So that automatically makes the episode twice as good as I thought it was.
