ROCS is a free, serverless, TAK-inspired situational-awareness system for civilian teams (search and rescue, outdoor events, amateur-radio emergency groups). An Android app and a PC node share team positions, points of interest, messages and alerts over LoRa radio (Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3 or Seeed XIAO ESP32S3 + Wio-SX1262 used as a plain radio modem), local Wi-Fi multicast or public MQTT brokers.
No account, no server, no plugin: scan the group QR code and you are in. All content is end-to-end encrypted with the group key (ChaCha20-Poly1305, Ed25519). Offline raster maps (MBTiles, e.g. IGN).
Rust core, Kotlin/Jetpack Compose app, ESP32-S3 firmware flashable from the phone. Documentation in French.
Features
- Offline raster maps (MBTiles), touch navigation, dark mode
- Live team positions, distance, bearing, link and RSSI
- Shared points of interest, group and direct messages with acknowledgement
- Alerts: SOS, injured, danger, help needed
- Group join by QR code, end-to-end encryption (ChaCha20-Poly1305, Ed25519)
- LoRa 869.4 MHz with automatic relaying (mesh), local Wi-Fi, Internet (MQTT/TLS)
- Modem firmware installed and updated from the phone or the PC
