Just in case you need it, there is a way to add any LJ blog to your DW reading page.
To do so go to your DW feeds page (Settings - Read - Feeds) and in "Feed URL" window enter http://lj_username.livejournal.com/data/rss (replace lj_username with the actual username of LJ blog you want to subscribe to).
After that DW will display another page prompting you to enter a name for the feed. Enter it, and then subscribe to it.
If someone had already subscribed to that LJ feed before, DW will display an existing link. Click on it and subscribe.
You can subscribe both to personal journals and communities. Naturally, you will see only public entries, but it's still better than noting.

Fic Poster: Venus and Mars (Darla)
Feb. 22nd, 2016 03:29 amPoster art for one of my favorite stories, Venus and Mars by Glassdarkly (aka shapinglight").
I had a lot of fun while making it. First of all, because it's incredibly rich story (yes, it's a rec!) with so many possibilities for interpretation. Plus, it gives a perfect excuse to go through Victorian dress collections, imagining Darla and Dru in fancy historical gowns. (Poor Dru, she didn't get her dress from me after all. I should rectify it someday.)

I strongly dislike „Not Fade Away”, but I never took the time to pinpoint why exactly. It’s not just because I hate cliffhanger endings. Besides, cliffhanger ending fits main idea of „Angel” perfectly... And then it hit me – the Main Idea. Fighting the Good Fight. That’s the problem.
Buffyverse exists in the modern world not much different from ours. As far as we know most historical events are the same, as well as social institutions, religions, governments...
Basically, world where demons exist and Senior Partners rule, isn’t worse than the one, where they are absent.

Couple of Buffy vid recs
Oct. 17th, 2015 02:04 amIn case you didn't know, there are couple of amazing new Buffy vids made by cvalda. (And both could use more love, go and hug them, because they deserve it!)
High by the Beach - Buffy/Angel and Lily. It's not shippy bangel vid, though, it's about Buffy & Lily (aka Anne), growing up and moving on. And it's the best post-Becoming vid I've ver seen.
Half Life - Slayer mythology filtered through trip hop. I can't come up with the better summary than that, just go and watch it.

BTW, list of nominees in some categories still look criminally short... *wink wink nudge nudge* They accept graphics (including icons), fanfiction, fanvids and meta in several fandoms (Buffyverse, Firefly, Doctor Who, Torchwood, SPN, Stargate, Startrek, Teen Wolf and Charmed).

May. 30th, 2015 06:48 pmFirst of all, kikimay wrote wonderful ficlet on my prompt (which was: Drusilla visiting shanshued Angel): Beautiful Butterflies (PG-13). It's bittersweet futurefic, better than anything I could even hoped for.
There is amazing new author in Buffy fandom, AliceInKinkland. Couple of her latest stories:
Parent Traps (G) - After "The Gift," Willow, Tara, Xander, and Anya discuss how they’re going to raise Dawn without turning into their own not-so-perfect parents.
The first thing Willow says when they get to Buffy’s house is, “We need to make a chart.” <...>
“Actually,” Willow continues, “we need multiple charts—one for Dawn’s physical development, another for academic achievements, and another for feelingsy ones—you know,” she says, misinterpreting the group’s blank stares, “Like if she opens up to us about a crush or something. Or if she does something that really demonstrates her self-control.”
Somewhere Sharp and Hot and Shimmering (NC-17) Buffy/Tara scene in "Dead Things" goes a bit differently and leads to really kinky BDSM sex, where both girls are still in character.
In a way, it explores the theme, that I really would love to see in the show itself - what does it mean to be a good girl? (You know, instead of turning Tara into talking prop for Willow's arc. Good girls could be interesting, too, they are not just some boring cliche and convenient shoulder to cry on.)
And you absolutely must read (if you haven't done it already) feliciacraft's ficlet Lust at First Sight (PG), where Giles meets the love of his life.
Also, dragonyphoenix posted the new chapter of In a Corner of My Soul (PG-13), a rewrite of Season 1 with Giles a the Big Bad. It's the most inventive and convincing take on Dark!Giles that I ever seen in fanfiction. (Take a look, if you don't believe me. It's a great story, and it deserves more readers.)
Which reminds me, that it's the last 2 days to sign up for Summer of Giles.
And the last 2 days to make nominations at Sunnydale Memorial Awards.
