In early 2018 the Company began transitioning its business focusing on cybersecurity with the development and implementation of Post-Quantum Cryptography and Post-Quantum Blockchain technologies.\u00a0 They have developed a patent-pending, quantum resistant software system called IronCap that can safeguard clients data against future attacks from quantum computers<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.accenture.com\/us-en\/insight-quantum-computing\">Accenture<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nAccenture Labs has formed a research group that is partnering with <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/1qbit.com\/\">1QBit<\/a> to explore potential use cases for quantum computing by industry. \u00a0 They have recently publicized some work they are doing with 1QBit and Biogen to apply quantum computing to accelerate drug discovery.\u00a0 Accenture Labs and 1QBit have mapped out 150+ promising use cases where applying quantum computing might be used.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/finance\/newsbysector\/industry\/12065245\/Airbuss-quantum-computing-brings-Silicon-Valley-to-the-Welsh-Valleys.html\">Airbus Group<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nAirbus has set up a new research group in Newport, Wales to explore the potential use of quantum computing in aerospace activities. \u00a0 Potential applications could include searching big data, designing air vehicles and systems, designing new materials, and debugging complex software. Airbus has also made an investment in quantum software company QC Ware and will be partnering with them in this effort.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/www.alibabagroup.com\/en\/news\/article?news=p150730\">Alibaba Group<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nAlibaba Group&#8217;s cloud computing subsidiary has partnered with the Chinese Academy of Science to establish the Alibaba Quantum Computing Laboratory in Shanghai, China.\u00a0The laboratory combines the technical advantages of Alibaba in classical calculation algorithms, structures and cloud computing with those of the Chinese Academy of Science in quantum computing, quantum analog computing and quantum artificial intelligence. It is conducting research in quantum theory with a view towards discovering ground-breaking security techniques for e-commerce and data centers, as well as to enhancing computing performance.<br \/>\n<a name=\"AMAZON\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/aws.amazon.com\/braket\/\"><strong>Amazon Braket<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nAmazon Web Services (AWS) is creating a new quantum computing cloud service called Amazon Braket that will provide access to quantum computers from D-Wave, IonQ, and Rigetti, with more to be added in the future. It will be a fully managed service that will include Amazon&#8217;s own development environment that will interface to these other systems. They are also creating the AWS Center for Quantum Computing at Caltech in Pasadena, California to bring together researchers and engineers from Amazon with leading academic institutions in quantum computing, to develop more powerful quantum computing hardware and identify novel quantum applications. Finally, Amazon is creating a Quantum Solutions Lab that will provide hands-on educational workshops and help their customers develop their own strategy for quantum computing, build internal expertise, and eventually deploy quantum applications.<br \/>\n<a name=\"ARCHERMATERIALS\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/archerx.com.au\/\"><strong>Archer Materials Limited<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nArcher Materials Limited, headquartered near Adelaide, Australia is a materials technology company that is developing and integrating materials to address complex global challenges in quantum technology, human health, and reliable energy. In December 2018 they licensed a room temperature, carbon-based spin qubit technology called <sup>12<\/sup>CQ from the University of Sydney and are now <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/quantumcomputingreport.com\/news\/archer-exploration-starts-carbon-based-qc-chip-development-project\/\">proceeding to develop a quantum device<\/a> based upon this technology.<br \/>\n<a name=\"ARQIT\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/arqit.uk\/\"><strong>Arqit<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nArqit supplies a unique quantum encryption Platform-as-a-Service which makes the communications links of any networked device secure against current and future forms of attack \u2013 even from a quantum computer. Arqit\u2019s product, QuantumCloud\u2122, enables any device to download a lightweight software agent, which can create encryption keys in partnership with any other device. The keys are computationally secure, optionally one-time use and zero trust. QuantumCloud\u2122 can create limitless volumes of keys in limitless group sizes and can regulate the secure entrance and exit of a device in a group. The company is headquartered in London, England and <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/quantumcomputingreport.com\/arqit-starts-trading-on-the-nasdaq\/\">became a public company as a result of a business combination with a Special Purpose Acquisition Corporation (SPAC) in September 2021<\/a>.<br \/>\n<a name=\"ATTINQNET\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/about.att.com\/story\/beyond_quantum_computing.html\"><strong>AT&amp;T (INQNET Alliance)<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nThe AT&amp;T Foundry innovation center has joined forces with Caltech to establish an organization and program of work on Intelligent Quantum Networks and Technologies (INQNET).\u00a0Two of the INQNET program areas are focused on\u00a0Quantum Networks and Communications\u00a0and\u00a0Quantum Algorithms\/Quantum Machine Learning\u00a0and\u00a0Quantum AI. The full INQNET program extends to quantum computation co-design, quantum communication protocols and inhomogeneous computation landscapes of the future as well as connections with the quantum fundamental research developments in the areas that include quantum materials, devices and systems, quantum control and error correction.\u00a0 INQNET is located within the AT&amp;T Foundry in Palo Alto, California and also at Caltech in Pasadena, California.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/atos.net\/en\/insights-and-innovation\/atos-quantum\"><strong>Atos Quantum<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nAtos Quantum is a group within the European company Atos that specializes in quantum technology.\u00a0 They have recently released a product called the Atos Quantum Learning Machine which is a classical computer that can simulate a quantum system using anywhere between 30 and 40 qubits, depending upon the specific configuration. \u00a0 Associated with this product, Atos Quantum provides a universal quantum assembly programming language called AQASM along with other software to allow researchers, engineers, and students to develop and experiment with quantum software.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/technode.com\/2018\/03\/08\/baidu-quantum-computing\/\"><strong>Baidu<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nBaidu has launched its own institute for quantum computing dedicated to the application of quantum computing software and information technology. The Baidu Quantum Computing Institute will be headed by Professor Duan Runyao, who had been the director of the Centre for Quantum Software and Information at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). \u00a0The company is seeking to apply the potential benefits of quantum technology across its businesses, from online search to artificial intelligence, following similar moves from its rivals Alibaba and Tencent.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.boozallen.com\/expertise\/analytics.html\"><strong>Booz Allen Hamilton<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nBooz Allen has formed a team within their Data Science and Analytics group to utilize quantum computing to provide solutions to their business and government clients. \u00a0Problem areas of interest including System &amp; Network Optimization, Vehicle Routing, Logistics, Job Scheduling, Drug Discovery, Manufacturing, System Design, and Verification &amp; Validation. \u00a0They indicate on their web site that they are one of the first companies in the world to use quantum computing to solve real-world problems.<br \/>\n<a name=\"BTQ\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.btq.com\/en\/\"><strong>BTQ<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nBTQ is a company that builds post-quantum infrastructure to secure mission critical networks with a particular emphasis on providing quantum safe products for blockchain applications.\u00a0 The company is developing several software products that will be usable for distributed ledgers and other applications. They are also designing a hardware chip for accelerating post-quantum computations. The company was founded in March 2021 and went public on the Canadian NEO exchange in February 2023 trading under the symbol BTQ. The company&#8217;s headquarters is in Vancouver, Canada with additional locations in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, Taipei, Taiwan, Tokyo, Japan, and Sydney, Australia.<br \/>\n<a name=\"CISCO\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/research.cisco.com\/research-projects\/quantum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cisco Systems<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>Cisco has established a Cisco Quantum Lab to conduct research on the foundations of the Quantum Internet and quantum cryptography. Their hardware team develops the required quantum optics &amp; photonics systems. They conduct their efforts are in collaboration with classical engineering teams at Cisco and external partners in particular university labs across the globe.<br \/>\n<a name=\"CREOTECH\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/creotechquantum.pl\/en\"><strong>Creotech Quantum<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nCreotech Quantum designs and manufactures advanced electronics and complete technology systems \u2014 from concept to deployment. They focus on solutions for quantum technologies and demanding scientific and industrial applications. They develop, among others: quantum key distribution (QKD) systems, cameras for astronomy and research laboratories, White Rabbit precise time-synchronization systems, control and measurement systems\u00a0 (Sinara, MTCA). The company is located in Warsaw, Poland and was spun-off from Creotech Instruments in April 2026.<br \/>\n<a name=\"DWAVE\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.dwavesys.com\/\">D-Wave Systems<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nD-Wave was one of the earliest commercial companies formed to pursue quantum computing. There were founded in 1999 in Vancouver, Canada with the goal of making practical quantum computing a reality and have focused on developing a series of adiabatic quantum annealing processors that can be used with quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) problems.\u00a0 D-Wave also provides offers cloud computing services for customers who wish to access this capability remotely. In addition to the hardware, D-Wave also offers a full suite of software development tools and libraries to help their customers accelerate the development of applications for use on the machine. D-Wave is the only company that is working on developing both annealing and gate-based quantum processors. In August 2022, the company became public through a SPAC merger with DPCM Capital and the parent company is now incorporated in the U.S. state of Delaware.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/plus.google.com\/+QuantumAILab\/posts\">Google Quantum AI Lab<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nGoogle has a significant research effort in Quantum Computing.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They have been working together with NASA and the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) to operate first a DWave 2 and now a DWave 2X processor at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California.\u00a0\u00a0 Google has recently published a <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1512.02206\">benchmarking paper<\/a> on the DWave 2X showing initial test results.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In 2014, Google started up a second effort by hiring John Martinis and his group at UC Santa Barbara to work on a quantum computer that utilizes some of the surface code error correction technology that they have developed.\u00a0\u00a0 This technology has already exhibited major improvements in coherence time that could significantly improve a quantum computer&#8217;s performance.\u00a0\u00a0 Google has been vague about the ultimate goal but it is clear there could be significant applications in machine learning, pattern recognition, and other areas relevant to Google&#8217;s main endeavors.<br \/>\n<a name=\"HORIZON\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.horizonquantum.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Horizon Quantum<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nHorizon Quantum is building software infrastructure to bridge the gap between today\u2019s quantum hardware and tomorrow\u2019s applications\u2014equipping developers, researchers, and enterprises with the quantum software tools needed to solve real-world problems.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/researcher.watson.ibm.com\/researcher\/view_group.php?id=5881\">IBM<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nIBM research has a quantum computing group at their Yorktown Heights, New York, research center.\u00a0\u00a0 IBM&#8217;s approach appears to be based upon utilization of superconducting circuits coupled with error correction.\u00a0\u00a0 In April 2015, they <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/spectrum.ieee.org\/tech-talk\/computing\/hardware\/ibm-shows-first-full-error-detection-for-quantum-computers\">announced an advance<\/a> with a circuit that can detect both bit-flip and phase-flip errors together.\u00a0 Most recently in December 2015, IBM was <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/ibm-awarded-iarpa-grant-to-advance-research-towards-a-universal-quantum-computer-300189567.html\">awarded<\/a> an iARPA grant to use this technology under the Logical Qubits (LogiQ) program to overcome the limitation of current quantum systems by building a logical qubit from a number of imperfect physical qubits.<br \/>\n<a name=\"INFINEON\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.infineon.com\/\"><strong>Infineon<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nInfineon is involved in several consortia on quantum technologies, each pursuing different approaches. They include a project called <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.infineon.com\/cms\/en\/about-infineon\/press\/press-releases\/2021\/INFXX202101-031.html\">GeQCoS<\/a> developing a superconducting based quantum computer, as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.piedmons.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PIEDMONS<\/a>\u00a0ion trap-based and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.quantentechnologien.de\/forschung\/foerderung\/quantenprozessoren-und-technologien-fuer-quantencomputer\/quasar.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">QUASAR<\/a>\u00a0silicon-based quantum computer projects. Since 2017 Infineon has already been active as a pioneer in post-quantum cryptography, and is contributing to the development and standardization of quantum-safe cryptography methods.<br \/>\n<a name=\"Infleqtion\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/infleqtion.com\/\">Infleqtion<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nInfleqtion, formerly ColdQuanta, was founded in 2007 as a spin-off from the University of Colorado Boulder. They develop and design instruments, components and systems for scientific and industrial quantum applications such as cold atom experimentation, quantum simulation, quantum information processing, atomic clocks and inertial sensing. Infleqtion also develops quantum computers based on laser cooled neutral Cesium atoms.<br \/>\n<a name=\"INTEGRATEDQUANTUM\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/integratedquantum.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Integrated Quantum Technologies<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nIntegrated Quantum Technologies is building quantum-ready infrastructure to help secure and scale artificial intelligence. The Company&#8217;s vision is to tackle the core challenges shaping the future of AI, including quantum threats, growing compute demands, global deployment complexity, and the need for more resilient machine-learning systems, using proprietary technologies designed for real-world enterprise use.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/www.intel.com\">Intel<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nAlthough Intel previously did\u00a0not have any\u00a0research efforts devoted to quantum computing they did just commit to provide\u00a0QuTech, the quantum research institute of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and the Dutch Organisation of Applied Research (TNO), with $50 million in funding and provide engineering support\u00a0over\u00a0a ten years collaboration\u00a0to support their efforts. \u00a0\u00a0 A press kit describing Intel&#8217;s activities in quantum computing can accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/newsroom.intel.com\/press-kits\/quantum-computing\/\">here<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 Many people have been forecasting that Moore&#8217;s Law will end at some point and it seems\u00a0that Intel wanted to hedge their bets on\u00a0this new technology.<br \/>\n<a name=\"IONQ\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/ionq.com\/\"><strong>IonQ<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nIonQ was formed in 2015 to pursue quantum computers using ion trap technology by Professors Chris Monroe and Jungsang Kim from the University of Maryland and Duke University respectively. They recently have gone public on the New York Stock Exchange with ticker symbol IONQ through a merger with a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC). The company offers access to their computer through partnerships with cloud vendors Amazon Web Services (AWS) Braket, Microsoft Azure, and the Google Cloud as well as directly from IonQ. The company is located in College Park, Maryland and recently announced they will partner with the University of Maryland to create a National Quantum Lab at Maryland (or Q-Lab) that will provide students and researchers access to IonQ&#8217;s hardware.<br \/>\n<a name=\"JSR\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/www.jsr.co.jp\/jsr_e\/\"><strong>JSR Corporation<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nJSR Corporation is a multinational company employing over 7,000 people worldwide and a leading materials supplier in a variety of technology driven markets. JSR\u2019s global network is headquartered in Tokyo (Japan) and has factories and offices in Japan, Europe, US, China, Taiwan, Korea Singapore and Thailand.\u00a0 In December 2017,<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www-03.ibm.com\/press\/us\/en\/pressrelease\/53483.wss\"> JSR became one of IBM&#8217;s earliest access clients to its IBM Q Network<\/a> and in April 2018 they made an initial investment in Cambridge Quantum Computing (CQC) and <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/cambridgequantum.com\/jsr-corporation-increases-its-shareholding-in-cqc\/\">increased their stake to 5.5%<\/a> of CQC in July 2018.<br \/>\n<a name=\"KEYSIGHT\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/www.keysight.com\/us\/en\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keysight Technologies<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nKeysight Technologies is a leading provider of test solutions and electronic design automation that is expanding its footprint in quantum technologies. Keysight enables quantum research and development through advanced control systems, error mitigation tools, and scalable design workflows. Its product portfolio includes a Quantum Control System (QCS) for the control and readout of quantum devices as well as software products including QuantumPro, Quantum Circuit Sim, and Quantum System Analysis for the accurate simulation and integrated design for superconducting qubits,<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/www.lockheedmartin.com\/us\/what-we-do\/emerging\/quantum.html\">Lockheed Martin<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nLockheed Martin operates with the University of Southern California,\u00a0 the <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/www.isi.edu\/research_groups\/quantum_computing\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">USC-Lockheed Martin Quantum Computation Center<\/a> (QCC), which current has a DWave 2 processor that will be upgraded to the DWave 2X in January 2016.\u00a0\u00a0 Lockheed was DWave&#8217;s first customer with the purchase of the DWave One in 2011.\u00a0\u00a0 One of the unique areas that Lockheed has researched is the usage of quantum computers for verification and validation of complex software such as flight control systems.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In 2014, they published a paper on this that you can find <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/http\/www.mys5.org\/Proceedings\/2014\/Day_3_S5_2014\/2014-S5-Day3-09_Elliott.pdf\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 Lockheed is also a participant in the iARPA <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/quantumcomputingreport.com\/our-take\/will-there-be-competition-in-quantum-annealing-processors\/\">QEO (Quantum Enhanced Optimization)<\/a> for quantum annealing as well as an industry partner in the NSF <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/quantumcomputingreport.com\/news\/nsf-awards-10-million-for-research-on-enabling-practical-scale-quantum-computing\/\">Enabling Practical Scale Quantum Computing<\/a> programs.<br \/>\n<a name=\"MICROSOFT\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/solutions\/quantum-computing\/\"><strong>Microsoft<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nMicrosoft has multiple efforts related to quantum computing. Through their <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/services\/quantum\/\">Azure Cloud Computing Service<\/a>, they offer access to quantum computers from IonQ and Quantinuum (aka Honeywell) and are soon adding Rigetti and Quantum Circuits Inc. They maintain an <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/solutions\/quantum-computing\/network\/\">Azure Quantum Network<\/a> and collaborate with a number of solution partners, academic institutions, non-profits, and customers to develop quantum and quantum-inspired solutions. Microsoft provides a <a href=\"https:\/\/round-lake.dustinice.workers.dev:443\/https\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/quantum\/overview-what-is-qsharp-and-qdk\">Quantum Development Kit<\/a> (QDK) which is a full SDK that includes a quantum specific language called Q# and allows someone to write quantum programs, simulate the programs on a classical computer, and then run the program on the quantum computer attached to Azure.
