Probability distribution explorer
Inspect binomial probabilities, expected value and uncertainty.
What it shows
A binomial distribution describes the number of successes across a fixed number of independent trials with the same success probability.
Example
For 10 independent trials with success probability 0.5, the expected number of successes is 5. The explorer shows how probability is spread around that value.
Assumptions and limits
Specify a fixed trial count and a probability between zero and one. The standard binomial model assumes independent trials and a constant probability.
Real observations may be dependent or have changing probabilities. In those cases, the displayed binomial probabilities are a model illustration, not an estimate from data.
