ough (9/21/24)
Sep. 21st, 2024 10:53 amwork has been beating my ASS this week holy god. we've done 30+ vaccines (yesterday close to 50) every week day and it's just. BUSY as all hell. everyone is sick, we're going through paxlovid like candy (but strangely enough not really tamiflu, just paxlovid)... covid numbers r high again i think. i am worried.
also, i received my eggbug patch in the mail. still really bummed about cohost. i know it had its issues but man i was really hoping it could maybe... work on them. i just thought there was time, y'know? at least i have eggbug patch and plush to remember.
i did some work on my website (not as much as i'd like due to the previously mentioned Ass Beating Via Work) and i'm rly happy with it. ;w; made a find it page on my website based on this post on cohost! all of the pages are up + furbys are hidden, however please note the prize isn't finished yet LOL.
i have the weekend off thankfully, so i'm gonna try to do more website stuff. however, i AM doing some tabletop rpg today (lancer for the first time!!) and going to a pro wrestling show later today, and THEN tomorrow i'm playing stardew valley with my partner niko. ;w; but between that? Website Time.

Sep. 15th, 2024 03:27 pmso i see that you can make Communities here on dreamwidth; i wonder if anynyan would be interested in a cohost community? i know a lot of other people are trying various ways to keep people from cohost together (including myself and cohost users squidcrusher and soul-seeker!). idk if i'd want to run it but i'd definitely be interested in one, at least i think, depending on how communities work on here LOL.

this still feels like a Big Important Thing to just. post my random thoughts into but i'm gonna Make Myself Do It haha.
so today i want to talk about: my website!! i've had it since march of 2022 and it's honestly undergone a LOT of change since then; here's a screenshot of what it used to look like!
WOW look at that compared to NOW. you can definitely see the seeds there, but it's soooo nice to see how it's bloomed, honestly! like i Did use a template but i've honestly almost edited it beyond all recognition... almost haha.
i think i will talk about the two Big updates that are coming to my site sooner rather than later!
1. the one that involves dreamwidth itself! using a solution from here, courtesy ofsoftwareangel, i'm going to replace my blog on-site with an rss feed of my dreamwidth blog ! (though, like eniko, i did use a different rss service than the one goblinheart/sadgrl mentions...). this will hopefully make it easier to blog and just. say shit instead of feeling like i have to say Important Things Only.
2. the other, bigger thing: using this tutorial, i'm going to replace my current sidebar with a css/html/js version, that makes it a LOT easier to just, update it so (once i do the initial update to update every page LOL), i don't HAVE to update every page in order to update or change my sidebar! though i will be losing my music player on the sidebar bc i could Not convince it to work with the js :/ oh well, i still have that on prophet's page. i also am changing the table set up since again i couldn't convince it to work with the js, but i do like what i've come up with as a replacement!
i already have both things worked out on junk pages, it's just a matter of pulling the trigger. i think i'm gonna do dreamwidth blog today and then maybe the big sidebar update next week, if i have time/energy? We'll See.

hey everynyan, it's me, silas! posting on dreamwidth now, wao! since cohost is going kaput at the end of the month, i figured that i'd supplement my online time with this (though honestly what i Should be doing is spending Less Time Online, but...). you probably don't know me as i'm not a prolific creator in any sense of the term, but every once in a while i rip out a banger or two. but i digress lol.
anyway, i use he/it pronouns, am 30 years old (31 in november!), and am a queer nonbinary polyam trans man. the creature above is my furbsona (not a typo), prophet! dubbed "kinda alright" by wayneradiotv, circa 2020. you can learn more about them here! in meatspace, i'm a retail pharmacy technician and have been for about 7 years now. i have three partners: lazer, niko, and lucy! and i love them all so much and so many.
some of my interests are listed on my interests tags things but some things i like are: furbys, pro wrestling, horror genre, midwest/southern gothic, ttrpgs, tarot, possums, arknights, video games, music, nbc hannibal, and Of Course, Yeti: A Love Story. links to find more of a silas are listed on my profile, or they will be shortly.
i've been on the internet for like 20 years and i've never touched a site like lj/dw before somehow, so i have a lot to get used to haha. posting here feels like a Lot of pressure but i'm going to try and just treat it like A Blog, one that i can post what i want and updates on my life and cool links and shit. i'm also probably going to try to crosspost to my website via an rss feed via this method to replace my current blogging method, which is, every once in a blue moon loading up my blog page and typing on it, which isn't really conductive to Posting a lot.
since i've already tagged this with 'cohost', i guess i should talk about cohost, huh? i'm not gonna lie, i know it had a Plethora of issues, but man i'm gonna miss that little website. i met a ton of cool people there and it was a no pressure place (at least for me), of Posting, which i enjoyed. i liveblogged my colonoscopy prep on there LOL. between the announcement of cohost going under and losing a patient at work recently, i've been in a bit of a funk, i'm not gonna lie. depression, normally kept pretty well in check, rearing its ugly head. i'm just... Sad. it's been a part of my life for two years and by the end of the year it'll just be... gone. and i know there's backups and the highway and webrings in process and such and it will be good to keep up with said cool people i've met on cohost, but it's not the same as Just Being On Cohost, y'know?
i guess that's all for now. i'm gonna go get some water and chill. thanks for having me, cohost. it's been a pleasure.
