WordPress Origin Story

In 2017, Mukalele Rogers introduced me to WordPress. I had been contracted by a Community Based Organization in Masaka, Uganda, to create their website. However, coding took up a significant amount of time, causing delays. In order to meet the client’s urgent request, I decided to subcontract Rogers for assistance. Rogers had been active in sharing knowledge about web designing and development on ICT Teachers’ platforms. Due to his numerous responsibilities, Rogers was unable to deliver on time as initially promised. To address the issue, Rogers invited me to Kampala, turning it into an opportunity for me to learn WordPress. I found WordPress to be enjoyable and user-friendly. Together, we successfully completed the project within five hours.

Since then, I have been utilizing WordPress to develop and manage websites for communities and clients. I also teach WordPress to community members, particularly teachers and secondary, vocational, and university students, empowering them to transform their ideas into digital products and services.
