Bio

Hi! I’m John Carlo, an IT Operations Administrator and longtime WordPress professional from the Philippines.

I started my career in WordPress technical support, where I spent several years helping users troubleshoot websites, hosting environments, plugins, and other technical challenges. I later transitioned into IT Operations, where I now work with infrastructure, security, identity and access management, automation, IT asset management, and internal technology operations.

WordPress continues to be an important part of my journey beyond work. I enjoy giving back to the community through local WordPress meetups and WordCamp events. I’ve contributed through volunteering, organizing, photography, A/V, translation, and community activities.

Outside of technology and WordPress, you’ll usually find me exploring photography, videography, cinematography, and travel. I enjoy capturing people, places, and everyday moments while continuing to learn more about visual storytelling.

I’m always happy to learn something new, meet people in the community, and share what I’ve learned along the way.

WordPress Origin Story

My WordPress journey started during college when one of my professors introduced me to the platform. What began as curiosity soon became something I genuinely enjoyed. I started experimenting with WordPress, building projects, troubleshooting problems, and discovering how much could be created with it.

About a month before graduating, WordPress unexpectedly became the beginning of my professional career. I started working in WordPress technical support, helping customers solve problems with their websites, plugins, hosting, and other technical challenges. Over the years, that experience taught me much more than WordPress itself—it helped me develop my skills in troubleshooting, customer support, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

My career has since taken me in another direction into IT Operations, but WordPress has remained an important part of my life through its community.

I started getting more involved through local meetups and WordCamps, where I found opportunities to contribute beyond technical support. I’ve volunteered and organized around photography and A/V, served as an A/V Crew member and event photographer for WordCamp Asia 2024, became an A/V Organizer for WordCamp Asia 2025, and now serve as an A/V Team Lead for WordCamp Asia 2027. I’m also involved with local WordPress meetups in the Philippines.

What started as a platform introduced to me by a professor eventually became a career, a community, and a place where I continue to learn, contribute, and meet people from around the world.

And somehow, after all these years, I’m still discovering new things about WordPress. 🙂

Hi there, Since it's localhosts, have you tried to do this manually? As a workaround…
