Houses and Buildings

While I was worrying about my daughter
I decided to have a play in my art journal
so forgive any crazy mess!!
My mind struggled to leave my
worries behind.

The theme over at Art Journal Journey
is Houses and Buildings.

So I started with an old book page to cover
my page then stamped in brown using
Crackle Paint Stamp (SU).
I then inked up around the edges in black,
and added some blue and green here
and there to create a base for my houses.
I stamped the houses using
From our House to Yours (SU),
colouring them in different colours
using my markers then going in with
a black fine liner to add more
definition.
I cut them out and set them where
I thought looked good.
Before sticking in place I stamped
some trees from the same set,
adding colour with my markers.
I added some sentiment stickers
which I cut apart to suit the space.
I finally finished with some
embossing paste (SU) and a
brick stencil.
I added some stamped hearts
and wink of stella here and there
for good measure!

It has been non stop rain here this morning.
So dark and depressing!
Here's hoping for a descent weekend.

Bird journal page

I did another page in my journal this week
following the prompt over at
Art Journal Journey
which is birds.

I covered my page in a page from
an old novel and covered that in gesso.
I then used some scraps of the rose paper
and cut myself a frame.
I used some embossing paste and music stencil
to add the music notes in the background.
I then added some yellow acrylic paint
around the edges of the roses
and when dry I doodled on it.
The bird was cut out and placed
on a nest using some packaging
I received recently.
I finished with the word stickers.

Items used:
Bird - TLC Creates Vintage
Papers - SU
Stencil - i-Craft
Paste from Tim Holtz,
rescued packaging,
old book page.

Flower fairy!

So I was hoking about some boxes in my craft room
for a certain Hunkydory card kit and came across
some of these gorgeous wee fairy decoupage sheets.
They are from Reddy Creative Cards.

I must have them for absolute years!!
So I decided to make an art journal page using one of them.
There is a challenge for art journals and their
theme is trees so that is where I started.

I added scraps of paper to my page all
around the outer edge.
I then covered it in a coat of gesso.
I then added some pink gelato and acrylic
paint to get some colour.
The trees were made using a stencil (SU)
of tree trunks in brown ink in the centre.
I then sponged some light green and dark green
acrylic paints to create the tree top.
I then stamped some leaves over the top of that
using a stamp set called Life is Beautiful (SU).
Next I used some fun flock to create a mossy bottom
and added some punched flowers and
pearlized enamel effects for the centres.
Next I popped out the little angel
and stuck her in place.
I highlighted some areas with my black pen.
I added the wording which I got from
Willowing Arts.
At this stage I should have left it but NOOOOO!
I decided to cover the corner in yellow paper
to look like a sunshine.
I stamped the sentiment from the
Life is Beautiful stamp set (SU)
and finally finished by splattering some gold ink
and adding some
white acrylic paint around the edges.
Then when dry I added some faux stitching.

It was very therapeutic and fun but my
desk was a complete and utter mess lol.

Splattered Moon!

I bought myself some of those make-up brush paddles people have been using
to ink up their backgrounds and this is my first play.
They really are good for spreading the ink, though I do need more practise.
But at least I got to make another journal page.

The sky is a mess! I forgot to put my mask down for the moon so had
to try and make one by lifting the ink lol.

The stamp set is Nature's Beauty and it was a very enjoyable,
but large learning curve!!
The brushes were only a few quid off ebay and work perfectly.

A walk in the countryside journal page 12

This is the first time in ages I have felt like doing something in my art journal.
As usual it started out to be something entirely different!
I was working on the theme from Art Journal of dreams or wishes and this happened!
But I am pleased with it as I am not an artist at all!
Says you 'I know' lol.

I started by covering my page in a decoupage finish to stick down a paper towel
as I wanted some texture.
From that I just went mad with my inks and somehow ended up with a country scene.
I used gold thread along each of the hills but it's hard to see on here.
I added some fencing using my blend pens.
Stamped some trees and added leaves using my blends again.
Then I thought it needed some animals so I drew the sheep heads and
added the bodies by dipping a bud into gesso and dotting it on.
Then came the horse, or is it a donkey, or is it a giraffe lol.
As I say I am not an artist but I did have fun drawing him.
I finally stamped some grass in the lower field and that was me done.
I seriously had to walk away!!
But I will look at this page on a dull dark winter's day and dream
of being out for a lovely walk in the countryside.

Art Journal Page 11 - New Wonders!

Art Journal page 11!
Can't believe I have stuck at this very enjoyable project!
My page today started off pretty random. I decided to
cover my page in gesso and then made myself a punched
1" circle stencil and proceeded to ink up the page.
I made a 1/2" circle template and did some using the same ink.
Then I just swished the sponge to create the block of ink underneath.
Now what!! Wasn't sure what way to go but thought it needed
some depth so out came the twinkle twinkle dsp and more punched circles.
Of course that led to the nursery rhyme and that led to the little fairy image.
And so my page was finished!!

Journal Page 10 - Rainbow

RETIRED STAMPS FOR SALE HERE

Back with my journal page number 10!
This week past my daughter and her partner went to the PRIDE parade
in Belfast. It was a brilliant day and the photos she sent were so colourful
I thought it deserved a mention in my journal.

I used Forever Lovely and Crackle Paint stamp sets
and tried my best to create a nice soft rainbow of colour.
I added black hearts around the edge to show how still, to this day,
there is hatred shown to people who do nothing to warrant it!!
I fill the inside with a heart shape made from the matching card colours
and filled the inside area with lots of matching hearts.
I wanted to express the idea that true love will push that hatred away!!
The sentiment simply tells my daughter that she is loved
for the special person that she is.
