THE K92 Mining Inc. has assisted two provinces and the districts it operates in with a total of K3 million to help address the El Nino-induced dry weather affecting the Highlands. K92 chief executive officer John Lewins presented the Morobe and Eastern Highlands governments with K1 million each and three districts of Obura-Wonenara, Kainantu (Eastern Highlands), Usino- Bundi (Madang) and Markham (Morobe) K250,000 each. Earlier this year Newmont Lihir paid K852 million in corporate tax and their second instalment of K633 million at end Q2 2026 marks their position as the largest taxpayer in the mining sector to date. “This illustrates the important role responsible mining companies play in supporting public revenue, employment, provincial development and opportunities for communities,” said PNG CORE Executive Director, Richard Kassman, OBE.
