About breaklint
breaklint checks documents generated from HTML to PDF after pagination. It reports measured layout and typography findings, source context where verified, and explicit measurement limits. PDF is not an input format. No language model runs at check time. Version 0.10.0 provides seventeen rules, twelve active by default. Five optional rules cover whitespace review, figure captions and local references, missing headers on table continuations, and measured column drift. Supported figure bodies include images, inline SVG and source-matched tables; unsupported structures remain visible as measurement limits. JSON is canonical. Human reports and bounded agent context derive from it. Conservative report comparison requires compatible, verified measurements. Suggested repairs are marked when untested. All rules remain uncalibrated. Ten selected pages received a bounded maintainer evaluation; this does not establish general precision, recall or a blind holdout. Try npx [email protected] --demo — exit 1 is expected. Own HTML needs a browser and the documented renderer dependencies. MIT licensed; Node 22.13 or newer. 0.10.0: table continuation checks and clearer reports
A table continues on the next page, but its header does not. Or its columns shift between pages. breaklint 0.10.0 adds two optional checks for these cases, using verified source rows and measured cell geometry. Figure checks now support more inline SVG and table bodies, and recognise valid legacy a[name] anchors in local references. Reports distinguish unmeasured candidates from non-applicable cases and show coverage counts. The optional whitespace check avoids some unnecessary warnings on document endings and pages with very little usable space left. Seventeen rules are available: twelve run by default, five through --profile strict or explicit enablement. Findings and suggested repairs still need review. No finding does not prove that every candidate was measured. All rules remain uncalibrated. Try the bundled demo: npx [email protected] --demo (exit 1 is expected). Used it to check some of my files. Quick and easy checker! Will continue to try it out

HTML to PDF breaks quietly. Clean page 1, then something split in half on page 7, and the browser preview never shows it. Reporting the measured value next to the threshold it failed means you know what to change.
I built this after a chart passed an XML check and a geometry check and still rendered with colliding labels. Whether a page works is decided after pagination. Try: npx breaklint --demo
