Inspired By... London

Inspired By... is challenging us to be inspired by the London photo above. I saw a telephone booth, thought telephone and 'miss you'.  The image I used could be nearly thirty years old... it is the first image I ever bought from My Favorite Things!

Inspired By... XOXO

Inspired By... is challenging us to be inspired by "XOXO".  I decided use a XOXO background die.  This was time intensive because I wanted to inlay all the X's and O's.  I love the result.  I die cut the panel twice in red and pale pink, made piles of the little X and O bits, covered the back of the die cut panel with scortape and adhered it to a white A2 card base, then began filling all the x's and o's. 

The sentiment is layered and die cut from glossy white cardstock.  

Continuing on with my new year's resolution, I made a second card with the pink XO base.  Different sentiment, mounted on vellum.  I added a small heart sequin to the inside "O".   This card is for the collection headed over to my friends at Friends After Diagnosis, a group supporting breast cancer patients.

I should mention that I made the time fly by watching two Oscar nominees. The Holdovers was fabulous with Paul Giamatti.  Past Lives, a Korean love story, was equally wonderful.

Inspired By Snowman

At Inspired By... the theme is SNOWMEN.  The theme gave me a chance to use a gift I received over the holidays... Taylored Expressions Cool Crew.  As I was playing with this card, you could have let the small accordion of snowmen stand on their own.  Or you could cut the foursome in half and stack the two pairs on an A2 card. Or you could use one snowman as a standalone in a scenic background.  Oh so many things to try. I simply assembled the foursome on a slimline card with a DSP background and a simple stamped sentiment.

Inspired By... Presents

This week at Inspired By..., we are being inspired by PRESENTS.  For me, it was just the word, not the photo or sketch or colors.  I am in the throes of making Christmas cards and loved the idea of a "present" card.  I am also taking inventory of the stamps and dies I own in light of the crazy sales this past weekend (hope you bought some fun crafty stuff!).  I decided to use an old Concord & 9th tri-fold die that needs some loving.

Inspired By Halloween Board and Two Old Bats October Halloween Challenge

For Inspired By... this week, I have combined their photo inspiration featuring "eyes" with Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge mood board.  I focused on the bottom right of the board highlighting an all black and orange image.  I found some fun "bat" DSP in my stash, added a few more bats, and a door that features a few "eyes" looking out.  I thought the idea was good but not sure about the execution.

Inspired By... October

This week at Inspired By..., we are being inspired by October.  In the photo inspiration, I focused on the October quote on the wall.  For my card, I picked a quote from Anne of Green Gables that I like. I downloaded and read Anne of Green Gables this summer.  I had never read it as a child but can highly recommend it as an adult.  This card is far from my usual style in order to highlight the quote and the colors in the photo inspiration.

Inspired By...YOU! IB200

For their end-of-year challenge, Inspired By... is challenging us to make a card influenced by one of 2021 weekly winners.  There were a couple of cards I really wanted to CASE but I decided on Silke's October winner in the I'd Fall for You challenge.  

I took away the following elements to incorporate into my card:  I love Sile's layout.  I knew I wanted use 1) the highlight circle to the left of the card.  2) The width-length sentiment used to ground the images.  3) The subtle "falling" items.  I also love 4) Silke's use of My Favorite Things characters.  The card came together quickly.  I used MFT's STAX stitched dome dies for the highlight focus; die cut from Memory Box paper.  The stamped sentiment is from MFT's Bitty Thanks and Gratitude, layered atop Memory Box paper.  The snowmen are from MFT's Christmas Cuteness; stamped, die cut, and Copic colored.  Falling from the top of the card are about a dozen snowflakes created using an ancient Marvy Uchida punch.

Inspired By IB199 Warm Winter

I was so excited to see this week's challenge at Inspired by... this week! No greenery and no berries!  I decided to focus on the bird.  I am not sure what kind of bird is in the photo inspiration; I decided I wanted a Christmas cardinal.  I am not sure why as cardmakers we don't make more Christmas cards with cardinals.  To begin, the pale gray cardbase is embossed with Alexandra Renke's Snowfall folder. The Memory Box Winterberry Sprig/branch is die cut in dark gray and the berries are colored in gold Smooches Accents.  (I have no idea what I am going to do when I have no gold paint left... this product is no longer made.  Such a bummer.) The diecut sentiment is from Savvy Stamps. The "cardinals" are from My Favorite Things.  The beaks are painted in gold and the black encircling the beeks was added with a black Sharpie (more cardinal-like!).  The birds are foam mounted.  The final touch was a bit of gold cord from May Arts.

Inspired By IB198 Holiday/Winter Love

This week at Inspired By..., we are working with a gorgeous snowflake in our photo inspiration.  I made the Simon Says Stamp Marie Snowflake the focus of my card and used the SKETCH to highlight it.  The snowflake is die cut from silver Mirracard, and embellished with metallic thread, rhinestones, pearls, and snowflake and star sequins.  The snowflake is mounted on an opal Stardream card base which has been embossed with Simon Says Stamp Scandinavian Christmas folder.  The trio of stamped sentiments are from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words Holiday.

Inspired By IB197 Color Challenge

This week at Inspired By..., we are focused on COLOR.  I looked at the centerpiece and pulled out the dominant red and green, as well as pink and citron. I saw these colors set against a neutral/wood background and selected a kraft card base.  I used the four chosen colors with Concord and 9th's Deck the Halls Turnabout. I added a pink Stardream sentiment from Savvy Stamps.  Small gold dots of Smooches Accents were used on the flower centers.

Inspired By IB195 White Christmas

This week at Inspired By... I am working with the photo "Tag You're It" as well as the sketch.  I decided to be a bit literal.  I created a kraft wrapped package from my 5x7 card base.  I wrapped red Baker's twine around the sides three times as in the sketch, tied off and added a tag made from scraps.  Tag is from W+9 Timeless tags, the red stamped sentiment is from Mama Elephant Up & Away.  The larger sentiment is clear embossed in Versafine brown, and from Impression Obsession Holly Jolly.

Inspired By...IB192 Who's Your Boo? & Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #530

So I absolutely love the Halloween photo inspiration over at Inspired By...  The photo is very playful but it is the title this week that inspired my card!  I combined "Who's your Boo?" with the monsters over at Cupcake Inspirations for a fun, "cutsie" Halloween card.  The monsters are from Tim Holtz' Silly Monsters, each has been distressed in a different color, Twisted Citron, Wilted Violet and Spiced Marmalade.  The monsters are adhered to a black card base, with googly eyes added.  The adorable sentiment is from Inkadinkado, white embossed on a foam mounted panel edged in black and white washi tape.  Cupcake Inspirations is partnering this month with Double Trouble Challenge which requested washi tape be included in card creation.

Inspired By...IB190 Christmas Rocks

This week at Inspired By..., we are working with an inspiration photo featuring small Christmas images on rocks, along with a sketch featuring 5 small images.  I "recreated" using 5 small Christmas images from Mama Elephant's Holiday Bitties.  All images were stamped and Copic-colored.  My Favorite Things Blueprints 13 contains an "award" circle (pinking shear cut).  Each image was die cut with a circle to fit inside the award outline.  The images were then mounted on the card base (covered in Memory Box patterned paper) as seen in the design sketch.

Inspired By...IB189 All the Peels & Tic Tac Toe TTTC133 – Featured Designer Silke

This week at Inspired By... with are working with a beautiful fall photo inspiration featuring a bucket of apples.  I made a simple one layer card; the image stamped and Copic-colored. The pail of apples is from an old Stampin' Up set and is one of my favorites.  The sentiment is from Impress Stamps.

At the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, I worked with the TOP row: SCORING, BASKET, FRAME.  Using my Score-buddy, I scored a simple frame around the card. And in this case a basket is a pail!
