Blog Posts 2019 - 2024

When we changed from the old version of the website to the current version, we decided to keep the old blog posts written since 2019. This 124-page document contains insight into how our organization changed, the advocacy work we have done and shows how much more remains to be done. I encourage all of our fans to take a few moments and read some of these articles. My thanks to Joan Rittberg, guest columnist through 2022.

No One is Equal Until All Are Equal
we are different from others

We are a 501c3 and a 509a2 non-profit organization advocating for civil rights and equal treatment for all under the law in Pennsylvania. We are a completely volunteer organization. As of March 13, 2014, we also added PEP Radio as a subsidiary non-profit that will operate at 95.7 FM in Crawford County and will stream live on our website and social media platforms.

We started our advocacy adventure as Marriage Equality for Pennsylvania in June 2011, when New York won marriage equality for same-sex couples. By August 2014, with the fight for marriage equality in PA already won, we changed our name to Pennsylvania Equality Project. We continue to push for fair treatment under the law, equitable resolution for those facing discrimination, an end to book bans and conversion therapy, and much more.

We offer resource listings, advocacy, news, event listings, and online courses on topics such as LGBTQ+ 101. We are conducting a five-year study on the sustainability and affordability of housing for the LGBTQIA+ community in Pennsylvania and have already completed our first year of the study. Details on our Survey page.
