• Trying to be here more often and give fewer cares about actually having something of great import or whatever to say. I am keeping a paper journal where I jot down positive things or little achievements at the end of each day, and it's been a really nice little exercise. Some days it's literally just "I did my dishes today" or things of that nature, but it's nice to actually sit down and reflect on what I did and highlight things that helped me get through. Some days are still hard but I am doing a *lot* better now that I've changed jobs. I look back on my private entries from last year where I kind of gravitated here just to spill things and ugh, it was really really bad. But things are better now!
• This weekend is going to be all about trying to get something knitted for a friend's baby shower on Sunday. I have the yarn there! Friday night/Saturday is going to be all about putting some stitches on needles. I've never made booties before and I think I'm keen to try, but I might make a little hat or bonnet or something first just so I don't spend all my time on a potential experiment/disaster hahaha
• My house is nice and tidy at the moment because I had an inspection today, so I'm basking in the rare moment of not having any housework to do. I also had a massive two days in the garden last weekend -- we had perfect autumn weather, blue skies and about 25 degrees so I was out in the garden for like 8 hours each day. I finally pulled all the grass away from the foothpath along the side fence, a job I've been avoiding for literal years. It was so easy! It just pulled right up. I hate that I put it off for so long. I bet my neighbours are pleased; it looks so much tidier now. But I hate weeding so much AND this was out on the street where people could see me do it so I just kept making excuses to leave it. But it's done now! And the house is tidy and all my clothes are put away and it's raining gently outside and now I can just relax and enjoy so guilt-free fandom/fic time.
• Speaking of fic! I check DW more often than I check my fandom pages on AO3 so I made some feeds -
babysittersclub_feed and
babysittersclub_tv_feed and it's already paid off. I really enjoyed this little introspective Abby fic today! INTERSECTING PATHS by
templefugate: If Abby wants to learn more about her mother's life, then she'll have to raise a few ghosts.
• I think I might need to find some BSC Netflix icons for Dreamwidth use.

Date: 30 Mar 2022 11:25 (UTC)I feel like I want to learn how to make an AO3 feed for Hermitcraft fic, but I think the volume of fics might overwhelm me. And I'd love to make one for HC crossovers, but since most Minecraft series/fandoms don't have their own tags on there I'm not sure it would work very well... hm. I should look into it when I have more time, thanks for putting the idea in my mind!

Date: 30 Mar 2022 11:40 (UTC)Making a feed is SO easy, I was so surprised! Dreamwidth actually has great instructions on it: https://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=27
But yeah if your fandom is heavy traffic it'll bulk up your flist pretty fast! Sometimes -- SOMETIMES -- it's nice to have fandoms that move at a snail's pace haha

Feeds are good. I can't construct them from scratch, but it's very easy for Dreamwidth for things that already have feeds on AO3 or set blogging sights, and it is very helpful! (I have an AO3 feed for Classic Who and Sapphire & Steel, and one for a family history news blog.)

Date: 1 Apr 2022 12:22 (UTC)And I can't construct feeds from scratch either, which made me so relieved that AO3 and Dreamwidth made it so easy for me to figure out! I'm trying to curate my flist so it's a little busier and more enticing to check frequently.
