Territorial & Land Acknowledgement

Open Space respectfully acknowledges that we are located on the unceded Territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples - the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations - whose relationships with the lands, waters, and skies have existed since time immemorial. We seek to uphold these ongoing relationships to the land and its stewards as we work on these territories by respecting Indigenous Knowledges, the protocols shared with us, and by continuing to do things in the best way we possibly can that respects people, place, and all living beings.

We acknowledge and give thanks to the lands and waters for providing for us and we actively work towards reducing our impacts as individuals and as an organization. We acknowledge and give thanks to the fish, birds, insects, animals, plant and tree life for providing us with a beautifully diverse ecosystem that we understand is fragile. Conversations about privilege and protection of lands and waters has become common place at Open Space and we will continue to do this work.
