Recognising and addressing uncivil behaviour in the workplace is an essential skill for any HR professional or leader. Left unaddressed disrespectful conduct slowly erodes team cultures and can even escalate to issues of bullying and harassment. Join us on Wednesday, 16 September, for an online workshop that explores the concept of incivility and contrasts it with more severe behaviours such as bullying. By understanding the root causes of incivility and learning effective strategies to help you manage it, you'll be better equipped to prevent or transform a toxic work environment. We want to hear about your experience of inclusion at work. The Workplace Inclusion Barometer is Te Uru Tāngata’s national survey of how people experience trust, fairness and belonging at work. It tells us what is changing across Aotearoa – but it can’t always tell us why. That’s where you can help. We’re looking for people to take part in a series of small focus groups and share their lived experiences of inclusion in New Zealand workplaces. What you tell us will help build a clearer picture of what’s happening in organisations and why, and will inform our reporting to employers, policymakers and the media. There’s nothing to prepare and nothing you say will be attributed to you or your workplace. Sessions will take 60–90 minutes and may be held online or in person. Kai will be provided for in-person sessions, and everyone who takes part will receive a $50 Prezzy Card in recognition of their time and contribution. Interested in taking part? Register your interest by completing our short form: https://lnkd.in/gQNsCUqJ The information you provide when registering will only be used to recruit participants for this research and will be deleted once the focus groups are complete. #WorkplaceInclusion #Inclusion #NewZealandWorkplaces #Research

How do we actually know whether our workplace inclusion efforts are being experienced by the people they are intended to support? Join our free for members August webinar to explore the latest insights from the Workplace Inclusion Barometer, Aotearoa New Zealand’s independent measure of trust, belonging and inclusion at work. Instead of measuring what organisations say they are doing, the Barometer captures the voices and lived experiences of employees across the country over time. This month’s panel will unpack the latest findings, highlight key areas of impact and the gaps that remain and discuss how organisations can make their inclusion efforts visible to the people they are aimed at. We are coming to Wellington! Our Regional Diversity Hui heads to the capital in September to examine how AI impacts inclusion in workplaces. Join our Chief Executive Maretha Smit for an honest examination of where AI intersects with inclusion, including the risks, the opportunities and the urgent question of who shapes how these tools are used. Every algorithm encodes a set of values: Whose data was used? Whose definition of merit was adopted? Whose language is treated as standard? These decisions directly affect inclusion whether an inclusion professional was in the room when they were made or not. In most organisations, they weren’t. What can people leaders do to ensure these new tools are not eroding workplace inclusion. Together, we’ll map AI exposure across six critical domains, explore what it takes to bring an inclusion lens to algorithmic decision-making and identify practical steps you can take immediately. Come along to network with the local workplace inclusion community and build empowering connections with fellow professionals over morning tea. Spaces are limited, RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/efe84DHU #WorkplaceInclusion #ArtificialIntelligence #InclusiveWorkplaces #CentreForWorkplaceInclusion #TeUruTāngata #Wellington

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Ōtautahi Christchurch for our recent Regional Diversity Group gathering. It was a valuable opportunity to connect kanohi ki te kanohi and explore what inclusion leadership looks like in the age of AI. Over morning tea and kōrero, Te Uru Tāngata Chief Executive Maretha Smit cut through the hype to examine where AI intersects with inclusion, including the risks, opportunities and questions of power and accountability behind these tools. Ngā mihi nui to everyone who came along and contributed to the discussion. Your perspectives, questions and commitment to building fairer, more connected workplaces made the kōrero richer. #TeUruTāngata #CentreForWorkplaceInclusion #WorkplaceInclusion #Aotearoa #TeUruTāngata #InclusiveWorkplaces #ResponsibleAI #RegionalDiversityHui #Ōtautahi #Christchurch #Events

Experiences of inclusion can vary significantly between different groups of people. The first Workplace Inclusion Barometer snapshot found that men were more likely to strongly agree that leadership is fair and that they feel a strong sense of belonging at work. Women, and particularly non-binary participants, were less likely to agree that they feel safe to speak up or that opportunities are equitable. Understanding these differences matters. When some groups consistently experience lower levels of trust, belonging or psychological safety, organisations may be missing opportunities to create environments where everyone can thrive. The Workplace Inclusion Barometer is designed to amplify diverse voices and track how experiences of inclusion change over time. The more people who participate, the richer and more representative the picture becomes. Do you agree with these findings? Have your say: https://lnkd.in/e_6kfarw Read the latest snapshot: https://lnkd.in/eb2VEPeP #CentreForWorkplaceInclusion #InclusiveWorkplaces #GenderInclusion

The first Workplace Inclusion Barometer snapshot found clear differences in how workplace inclusion is experienced across ethnic groups. Māori and Pacific Peoples respondents reported lower levels of trust and belonging than Pākehā respondents and were less likely to agree that their workplace respects Māori cultural values and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. By contrast, Pākehā respondents reported higher levels of trust, stronger feelings of belonging, and fewer perceived barriers to inclusion. These findings remind us that workplace culture is not experienced in the same way by everyone. Understanding where these differences exist is an important step towards creating workplaces where all people can thrive and feel a genuine sense of belonging. The Workplace Inclusion Barometer tracks trust, belonging and inclusion over time, helping organisations and communities better understand how workplace experiences are changing across Aotearoa.
