As a child, I have fond memories of my mom reading to me. I did the same with my children and still have most of the books that I read to them, which were and are being read to our grandchildren. The first photos are a couple of the books that my mom read to me. These books are precious treasures.
Last fall we went to our grandsons’ book fair. It was a great event with games and activities all centered around books. I don’t remember my elementary school libraries being so inviting, colorful and fun.
Before the internet, people recorded their genealogy in books. My husband’s family is a great example of this. His ancestors landed in Plymouth in 1630 on a ship called the Handmaid and all is recorded in these books until the web page was developed.
Most of my personal reading these days is through recorded books. Our library typically has an audio version for most print versions. I can put my phone in my pocket and listen to a book while cooking, cleaning or gardening. Recorded books are also great for long drives. But, there is one place where you have to hold a book in your hand!!
