a flying start

I decided to bring the new year in with a big still life set up! 

Here are some close ups - 

pumpkin pals

$60 - 5x7"painting with 8x10"mat.

I love this time of year and always enjoy painting pumpkins and fall colours.  I think the round pumpkins and hay blocks contrast wonderfully with the turquoise tractor. I tried to keep things as gestural and watery as possible, as usual!

Another great outing with the Toronto Plein-Air Group. We met up at City Hall and climbed the ramp for an aerial view.

 

You can see 'old' city hall in the background. I'm at 'new' city hall, (which really isn't new anymore.)

The Art Gallery of Ontario is here in Toronto and it's free on Wednesday nights. So, a bunch of us from the Toronto Urban Sketchers went over there. It's so much easier sketching in public with a group! 

bright and breezy

I really enjoyed painting these big bold roses. I named them after the summer we've had, bright and breezy. And now... I'm on vacation. See you in September.

It's nice to have a touch of pattern in a painting. Even if it's painted loosely, like on this little cup, it's a lovely bit of decoration.

I put these delicate bunch of pink flowers into a red vase, because I love pink and red together, then had fun splashing Holbein Opera Pink all over the place!
