  • Congratulations to Philips engineer Jonathan Grashow on being recognized by HomeCare Magazine and featured for his patient-centered approach to innovation in sleep therapy. For Jon, meaningful innovation begins with understanding the needs of the people who rely on therapy every night. By combining advanced 3D facial scanning, mathematical modeling, clinical research and direct feedback from patients and home care professionals, he has helped reshape CPAP mask design and continues to explore opportunities for more personalized solutions. In this new profile, Jon shares the experiences that shaped his career, the human stories that motivate him and his perspective on the future of sleep therapy. • Home ventilator data can offer meaningful context for clinical assessment in the home setting, but knowing which trends to watch and how to interpret them can be complex. Join Beyond compliance: interpreting home ventilator data to optimize patient management, a webinar featuring Philip J. Choi, MD, pulmonologist at NYU Langone Health in New York. This educational webinar will explore practical approaches to interpreting ventilator downloads, identifying clinically significant trends, troubleshooting common issues and using data-informed assessments to support individualized patient management. • Philips Sleep & Respiratory Care heeft dit gerepost

The most interesting thing I saw at the movies recently wasn't the film. It was an ad about obstructive sleep apnea. Not a CPAP ad. Not even a sleep-focused ad. It was an ad centered on weight and OSA, part of the growing conversation around GLP-1 therapies and their role in managing sleep apnea. What struck me wasn't the message itself. It was where I saw it. A movie theater. For years, conversations about OSA largely happened in exam rooms, sleep labs, and healthcare settings. Now they're showing up in mainstream places where people live their everyday lives. That's important because OSA remains significantly underdiagnosed. Many people recognize symptoms like snoring, daytime fatigue, or poor sleep quality, but never connect them to a potentially serious health condition. Greater awareness is the first step toward better outcomes. The growing attention around GLP-1s presents an opportunity for our industry. Not to view treatments as competing solutions, but as part of a broader conversation about improving patient health. OSA is a complex condition, and most patients benefit from a personalized approach that may include multiple therapies working together. The more we can meet people where they are, not just in healthcare settings but in their daily lives, the more likely they are to seek answers, get diagnosed, and access the care they need. If this trend continues, GLP-1s may end up doing something beyond helping patients lose weight: they may become one of the most powerful awareness drivers of sleep health seen in years. Have you noticed sleep health or OSA awareness showing up in unexpected places?

  • Your patients may not realize what's at stake. Many know that sleep plays an important role in their health and well-being.¹ But they may not know how or why. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, if an individual doesn't get enough sleep or they wake often throughout the night, they may be at a higher risk of coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity and/or stroke.¹ Not getting enough sleep can also lead to issues with an individual's metabolism, respiratory and immune systems, and problems with thinking and memory.¹ On the flip side, a person who gets adequate sleep can reap several benefits, ranging from improved mental and physical health to being more productive.² What's one way you're addressing sleep wellness in your practice? • Partner observations often provide clinically relevant detail that patients may underreport.¹ Structured intake questions can help surface nocturnal symptoms, daytime impact and shared sleep disruption. Integrating partner-reported patterns into assessment may support earlier identification and more comprehensive management of OSA. You can use these questions to guide conversations in your next evaluation.

  • Daytime symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea are often subtle and easily misattributed. Excessive daytime sleepiness, morning headaches, difficulty concentrating and mood changes may indicate underlying sleep-disordered breathing.¹ Despite its clinical impact, obstructive sleep apnea remains significantly underdiagnosed in adults.² This checklist highlights commonly overlooked daytime clues that may warrant further evaluation. Swipe through this post and share it with your professional network to support earlier identification of OSA.
