𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐆𝐍𝐒𝐒 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬? In Rethink Research's Wireless Watch, with Alex Davies, Qualinx B.V. CEO Tom Trill discusses how our Digital RF architecture changes the way GNSS solutions are deployed. “𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐬𝐞.” Today’s connected devices need positioning that can adapt across constellations, regions, applications, and lifecycle requirements. With QLX3Gx architecture, instead of designing different chips for different applications, OEMs can deploy a single hardware platform and configure it to support the GNSS constellation and application requirements they need. As products evolve, the configuration can evolve with them. This flexible reconfigurability simplifies product portfolios, while supporting a wide range of applications, including wearables, asset trackers, vehicles, industrial IoT, smart pallets, and edge devices that require reliable positioning, velocity, and timing with minimal power consumption. As Qualinx B.V. enters mass production with GlobalFoundries this year, the opportunity is about both what QLX3xx series enables at scale, and where the silicon is manufactured. As Tom puts it: “𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 ‘𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐔’ 𝐭𝐚𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲.” Ultimately, Qualinx's technology addresses a broader market shift, that goes beyond geography. “𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚-𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐍𝐒𝐒 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞.” Read the full article "Qualinx enters mass production for European GNSS ‘digital’ silicon" by Alex Davies in Wireless Watch: https://lnkd.in/eBEB5pFt #RethinkTV #GNSS #positioning #DigitalRF

Movetheneedle.news said it best: European chip sovereignty is moving from ambition into execution and Qualinx B.V. is helping lead this shift. Speaking with Ellen Gröniger, Editor-in-Chief at MoveTheNeedle.news, Qualinx B.V. CEO Tom Trill, captured the breakthrough clearly: “We've always known that a fully onshore supply chain in the EU is possible, but up to now it hasn't been economically viable at scale". This is the proof that security-critical GNSS technology for aerospace, defense, critical infrastructure and the connected edge can be built through a trusted, fully European value chain with data and supply resilience protected every step of the way. Read the full article to see what execution looks like when semiconductor innovation, trust, and European supply resilience come together. https://lnkd.in/eiwqpjhu #EuropeanTech #ChipAct #semiconductors #Europeansupplychain
GlobalFoundries and Qualinx B.V. say they have demonstrated what they describe as Europe's first sovereign end-to-end manufacturing flow for security-critical semiconductors. In an exclusive interview with MoveTheNeedle.news, Qualinx CEO Tom Trill said the project demonstrates that trusted European semiconductor production can now be deployed for commercial products rather than remaining a future ambition. "We've always known that a fully onshore supply chain in the EU is possible, but up to now it hasn't been economically viable at scale." Trill also challenged the common narrative that semiconductor sovereignty is primarily about geopolitics or defence: "The precursor to the sovereignty conversation was the supply chain meltdowns experienced during COVID." In his view, a regional or sovereign supply chain mitigates supply chain risk overall. https://lnkd.in/eSShAWk5 #Semiconductors #DeepTech #EuropeanTech #SemiconductorIndustry #GNSS #Galileo #CyberSecurity #CriticalInfrastructure #ChipAct #Technology #Innovation #MoveTheNeedle

“𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐆𝐍𝐒𝐒 𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬". That one line from Tom Trill, CEO of Qualinx B.V., captures a much bigger shift happening across the connected world. GNSS is no longer just a positioning feature inside a device. It is becoming the invisible infrastructure behind wearables, IoT, mobility, agriculture, autonomy, and the entire connected edge. In this Embedded Insiders conversation with Tiera O., Assistant Managing Editor at Embedded Computing Design, Tom unpacked what the next era of positioning will require. This in-depth conversation explored: 🔹 GNSS sovereignty, and why it is moving from policy debate to product requirement. 🔹 Spoofing resilience, and why trusted position, velocity, and timing are becoming mission-critical. 🔹 The power challenge in GNSS, and how digital RF can unlock a new power profile for wearables, IoT, and edge devices. 🔹 Secure GNSS at scale, with Galileo OSNMA authentication embedded in the chip architecture. 🔹 The future of positioning, where the industry can no longer afford to choose between accuracy, security, and power efficiency. In a world where location, timing, and trust are becoming mission-critical, GNSS can’t remain power-hungry, fragile, or reserved for premium use cases.
