Two and fourlegged critters

Top image: A fallow deer buck I met the other day. He was alone and unknown to me. I was able to take only these shots before he noticed me and took off. Not to be seen again. It is soon the time for rut so he might roam the forests for females. After the harvest and cutting down forest the deers are invisible. Hiding somewhere I don´t know. I inserted the image of the antler to show how sharp they are. Like a huge saw! This time I was glad they are Escape animals, animals that flee from their enemies, such as deer.

Bottom row the images I got of moose lately. I posted them before. The family was seen from my car. I was lucky to get that shot before they disappeared into the forest. The lone one was seen a few days later.

Top row: a dancing, juvenile magpie. This one has a blue mark behing his eye. That is a mark for African magpies. So, are the african ones moving north?? Who knows?
The next one is a Grey wagtail, female. At this place there has been a couple, but I have not seen any young so they probably did not succeed breeding ๐Ÿ˜ž
Bottom: I like to see swimming birds in this light. They form the beautiful V-shaped waves. Female Mallard!

Two, four and six-legged Critters

Humble bees in cherry trees.
We have a roundabout traffic area where they planted 100 cherry trees  5 years ago. Lots of flowers but not many humble bees. Maybe they stayed at home where it is cosy and not cold. It actually came a little snow when I was there.
The top image I created for my cover image on FB.

Horned grebe! Top row"
I did not see them when I arrived at the ponds. But walking the area further away I saw one pair in  dense bushes. If they nest at that area it will be hard to watch them. There will soon grow a lot of reed and greeary on bushes, hiding them.

The Common crane, bottom row, seem to have a nest. They might be late. I have seen images with chicks on FB.

Moose and a common crane.
And this moose was rare. I have not seen any since Sept last year. This is probably a young male! No antlers yet, but the bright hind legs.

A great day! Not when it comes to numbers, but when it came to species.
I have a counter that counts my steps, I walked 7640 steps, outdoors, 5348 meters and used, only, 289 kcal. Weird, ain´t it? You walk for hours and use only 290 kcal. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Moose and a new place

Moose cow and calf

A young Moose bull. Maybe the cows calf from last year. You see the small antlers, and they are bloody.

Moose family. All three visible here.

I noticed the moose from across a field. I was happy to see there was tree of them. Earlier I have only seen two. I assume the young bull is also the cows offspring. Or else he would not be with them.
Coming home I realized the moose hunt is about to begin. I can only hope they survive.

I found a new place this week, about an hours drive from home. It is a small Nature Reserve saving the environment of an old Esker from glacier times. WIKI
Lake Jรคgern with mostly mallards swimming.

A herd of sheep tending the landscape.
Walking into the reserve I immediately got company. ๐Ÿ˜

A rainy day. They did not seem to be bothered by the rainfall. They did not even care that I took out my umbrella. Of course I did it slowly. But they were watching.

This was a grey morning and I woke up early. I went out for a trip anyway and was rewarded greatly.
First I saw a male moose. Don´t think I have ever seen any. Only cows an young ones.

After driving a bit I spotted deer on a field. I stopped the car and went out to get closer to them following the edge of a forest. Took me about 20 min I think. I realized it was Red deer this time. A deer I never seen up close before. This was a male with 5 females. When the male thought I got too close he told me so. So I stopped and started to go back.

Then something was visible above my head. A White-tailed
eagle was circling above my head. A bad place for an eagle to be I think. It was hard to follow it when it was above me and I was on a harvested field. Luckily I did not fall.

Then I started to look for Raven, as there are almost always ravens close to the eagles. And it was.
Then I had been out for about 3 h without breakfast so I drove home to get something to eat.
