NAGW Listserv
Increase your knowledge and productivity by joining NAGW and gaining access to our popular listserv. NAGW members consist of local, state and federal government web professionals who share information, answer questions and learn from each other. Access to the listserv is free with membership in NAGW. The majority of questions posted on the listserv receive multiple responses within the same day making the listserv a valuable resource.

Who can join the NAGW listserv?
- The NAGW listserv is available to NAGW members only. Both full and associate members are eligible to join the listserv.
How does the signup process work?
Here is an outline of the signup process:
- Create a Google Account using the email you used to join NAGW (Instructions below)
If you can't use your email, make sure to let us know who you are in the Reason for Joining when you ask to join. - Visit the NAGW listserv page on Google Groups
- Login with your Google Account. (You will need this to access the message archives.)
- Aftering logging in you will see a link to Apply for Membership
- Choose the frequency to receive messages (as delivered, in digest format once per day, in combined batches of 25 messages or not at all)
- In the notes indicate who you work with so Member Services can verify your membership.
- Click the Apply to Join button
- Member Services will verify your NAGW membership and add you to the listserv.
- You will receive an e-mail when your subscription request has been accepted.
Why can't I subscribe my webmaster e-mail address?
To prevent abuse, Google Groups doesn't allow generic or administrative email addresses to be added into a group's membership list. Prefixes such as postmaster, webmaster, info, and help are a few examples of such addresses. Please use your work e-mail address to subscribe to the list.
didn’t receive the confirmation message
The message will come from “[email protected]” Look in your spam folder or set “[email protected] ” as an allowed sender in your mail program.
tried to post to the group but Get an Error Message
Try the following troubleshooting tips:
- Please double-check that the e-mail address you signed up with (and receive NAGW list mail at) is the the same as the one you are using to post from.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- If you're posting via email, visit the group's About page and confirm that you're sending your posts to the correct address.
- If you are posting via the Web interface, please make sure that your google/gmail account is linked to the same e-mail account you are subscribed with.
tried to view the NAGW group through google groups but Get An Error Message
Try the following troubleshooting tips:
- Verify that the e-mail address you signed up with (and receive NAGW list mail at) is the the same as the one you are using to to login to the Google groups site.
- Double-check that you are using a Google account (see below).
- Please make sure that your google/gmail account is linked to the same e-mail account you are subscribed with.
Do I need a Google account to use Google Groups?
If you want to receive and send messages to the group by e-mail, you don't need a Google account. If you would like to post to the group via the web, access the archives, read RSS feeds, or change your mail settings you will need a Google account.

How do I create a Google Account on my work email address?
Here's how to create a Google Account using your work email address (the e-mail account you used to join NAGW):
- Go to the Google Account Sign in page
- Click Create account.
- Enter your name.
- Click Use my current email address instead.
- Enter your current email address.
- Click Next.
- Verify your email address with the code sent to your existing email.
- Click Verify.
You should now be able to use this account to Join the NAGW listserv by logging in with this google account.
I've linked my account, but I can't view the archives
Make sure you are signed into the linked account. If you have different Google Accounts for different products, you can't be signed in to those accounts simultaneously. If you have a Gmail window open, you'll automatically be signed in using that account when you open a Google Groups window. If you wish to use your other Google Account instead, you'll first need to click the Sign out link in the top-right corner. If you would rather not log out of an account, use a different browser to login to the archives. Go to the NAGW Listserv Archives (must login with Google Account)
Are job postings allowed on the list?
Yes, you may post jobs on behalf of your local Government entity on the list. We also recommend using the NAGW Job Board which will post the jobs on the NAGW website. There is a reduced cost to members to use this service.
