Weekly Prompts Wednesday — Mini Me

I’m a big Mini fan.

Okay, yes, that may sound like an oxymoron, such as “jumbo shrimp.” But it’s not l. By saying I’m a big Mini fan, I don’t mean I’m a diminutive person who is a fan of, say, an athletic team. I’m actually a regular-sized person who is a fan of a number of sports teams. But I’m also a big fan of Mini Coopers, the British-made cars now owned by the German automotive company, BMW.

My wife and I, back in 2008, bought two Mini Coopers. She got the very sporty John Cooper Works Mini convertible and I got the very practical Mini Cooper Clubman, a slightly stretched version of the regular Mini Cooper hardtop. Then, in 2012, we bought a Mini Cooper Countryman (pictured below), a small SUV model, which we loved.

Alas, we are now Mini-less, as we decided last year to migrate to an electric car. At the time, Mini Cooper did not offer an electric model. In fact, even today, the only fully-electric Mini is the smallest model, the two door hardtop.

We are happy with our non-Mini Cooper electric car, but if Mini ever decides to launch fully-electric version of its Countryman model — which today is available in a plug-in hybrid model, but not all electric — we would seriously consider becoming Mini owners once again.

Written for the Weekly Prompts Wednesday challenge, where the word is “mini.”

A Month of Love #9

Paula Light says, “Let’s celebrate the month of lurve (aka love) by posting one thing we love every day throughout February.

Now the truth is that I’m not really a romantic guy, so I might be hard pressed to come up with 28 objects of love, but I think I should be able to come up with 28 things I like a lot.

I love my car. It’s a 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman that has around 54,000 miles on it.It’s an all-wheel drive model, not that we need it where we live because it never snows. It handles well, it’s well-built, it’s comfy, and it’s fun to drive. I like it so much that if I ever needed to get a new car, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one. The only problem is that my wife is insisting that if we get a new car, it would have to be an electric car. And the only electric model Mini Cooper has available now is the small, two door model.

So hurry up, Mini Cooper, and roll out an electric Countryman.

SoCS — The Largest of the Smallest

For today’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt from Linda G. Hill, we’ve been given the words “mini/maxi.” Linda instructs us to use “mini” (the smallest of something) or “maxi” (the largest) or both in our posts.

Alrighty then. The Mini Cooper is a small car. A very small car, indeed. Which probably explains why the brand is called Mini Cooper and not just Cooper.

I drive a 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman, similar to the one pictured above. It’s the largest of the Mini Cooper models on the market. So one might consider the Countryman to be the maxi version of the Mini Cooper.

Just so you know, this very well might be the shortest post I’ve ever posted in response to one of Linda’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompts. So maybe this should be dubbed a mini response. But I personally think the mini nature of this post can have a maxi impact, even given the few words it contains.

Give me a high five if you agree!
