WDP — Huh?

Daily writing prompt
Do you need time?

Interesting question. But what the hell does it mean? Is it a deeply philosophical question about whether or not human beings need time in order to function? In order to survive?

Or is the question asking me, personally, if need time? Time for what? Time to internalize the results of today’s election. Yeah, probably. But usually one would ask if I need more time or less time, not just time.

So I’m not sure how to answer this daily prompt question. I suppose the answer is yes, I need time.

But having said that, I need only one time, not two times. So pick one time — I don’t care if it’s standard time or daylight saving time. Just pick one or the other and keep it year-round. I don’t need time to change twice a year, year in and year out. That’s just stupid.

WDP — Time Is On My Side

Do you need time?

Interesting question. But what the hell does it mean? Is it a deeply philosophical question about whether or not human beings need time in order to function? In order to survive?

Or is the question asking me, personally, if I need time? Time for what? Time to learn all of the features and functionality of my new iPhone? Yes, I do.

In Other Words — Give and Take

D0067F8A-28E8-4779-A2A9-356137A8A178Since I met you, you’ve caused me nothing but heartache.

You’ve done almost everything you could to make my heart break.

Now yow want me to take you back when you were no give and all take.

So I hope you’ll understand, since you made my life a total mess,

Why I am telling you no in five lines or less.

Literally Speaking

Homer_D'OH!“I can’t begin to tell you how you hurt my feelings when you did what you did,” Stephanie said. “You literally cut me to the core.”

“No, Stephanie. I didn’t ‘literally’ cut you to the core,” Alex said. “You’re not using that word correctly. What you mean is that I figuratively cut you to the core. If I had literally cut you to the core, you’d be dead.”

“Oh shut up, Alex,” Stephanie said. “After what you did to me, I could care less what you think.”

“Actually, Stephanie, you couldn’t care less. If you could care less,” Alex explained, “it means that you actually have a bit of caring left.”

“For crissake, Alex, stop it.” Stephanie looked around the coffee shop and saw that a few people were staring at them. “Can we go someplace where there are less people?” she asked.

“No,” Alex answered. “But we can go someplace where there are fewer people.”

Stephanie stood up, looked down at Alex, and said, “Did you ever wonder why so many people think you’re an asshole, Alex? And I mean that literally.
