FOWC With Fandango — Jealousy

Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “jealousy.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. Show them some love.

Simply 6 Minutes — You and You Alone

The color green does not become you
The ugly green monster of envy
Is consuming your very soul
This kind of jealousy will ruin everything between us

Underneath your thin skin
You are a beautiful woman
A woman I love with all my heart
There is no one else for me

Half of the people on this planet are women
And some women are very attractive
Just because a man is on a diet
Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t look at the menu

I want you to feel secure in our relationship
And to know that you are the one I love
But I can’t go through life with blinders
Or avert my eyes each time a female passes by

You need to get your jealousy in check
It’s not a sin for my eyes to roam
Because at the end of the day
It’s you alone I want by my side and at home.

MLMM — Story Starter — Fit of Rage

In a fit of rage, she smashed her champagne glass on the marble floor and stared defiantly at him.

“What the hell, Caroline?” Marcus asked. “What is your problem?”

“My problem is that you’re flirting with every woman at this party,” Caroline said. “Do you have any idea how that makes me feel?”

“Flirting? Caroline, this is a party of people I work with. I’m not flirting, I’m just talking, socializing, being friendly,” Marcus said. “This is what normal people do at parties. Even married couples. We came here together. We’ll be leaving together. Please don’t let your insecurities and jealousy ruin this party for both of us.”

“Well how would you like it if I started throwing myself at other men, hanging all over them, giving them that come hither look?”

“Go ahead and do what you want to do, Caroline,” Marcus said. “Laugh and sing, have fun. But while we’re apart, don’t give your heart to anyone. If someone asks you if you’re alone and wants to take you home, say no. Remember, it’s me who will be taking you home and in whose arms you’re gonna be, so, my darling, save the last dance for me.”

MLMM Photo Challenge — Broken-hearted

“You look stunning,” John had told Sara. Of course she did. She knew it, too. She had great legs, a nice ass, and long blonde hair. The costume she chose, with the form-fitting black bodice and the black mesh stockings, was meant to show offer her assets and to evoke the sexy vixen look. “I’m going to be the envy of every man at the office masquerade party tonight,” John added as they walked to the car to drive to his boss’s lakeside retreat.

Four hours later Sara was alone, broken-hearted, oil lantern in hand, sitting on the pier overlooking the calm lake. How could he do this to me, she thought. What did that other woman have that she didn’t? Why was she getting all of John’s attention, while he literally ignored his own wife?

Sara placed the lantern down on the wood pier and slowly lowered herself into the cool lake waters. The water level reached only to her waist, so she began to walk toward the center of the lake where the water was the deepest. As the water level reached her shoulders, she was about to submerge herself completely when she heard her husband behind her frantically calling her name. Then she heard a splash as he dived into the water and swam toward her.

“Sara, what the hell are you doing out here?” John screamed.

“Leave me alone,” Sara said, tears streaming from her eyes. “Go back to your little Barbie doll that you seem so enamored with. I hate you.”

“Sara, if it’s Claudine you’re talking about, she’s my boss’s wife,” John explained. “I was just playing up to her to get on her good side. She’s very influential on her husband and I was hoping to score points with her so she would sing my praises to her husband. I promise you that was all there was to it.”

John reached out and grabbed Sara and started pulling her to the pier. “Now let’s get out of the water, dry off, and go home, where I’ll prove to you that you’re the only woman in my life.”

Fandango’s Provocative Question #103

FPQWelcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration.

By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger. Nor do I mean a question intended to arouse sexual desire or interest.

What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response. Hopefully a positive response.

Today’s provocative question is about jealousy. Jealousy is generally considered to be a negative trait and when it isn’t kept in check, it has ruined many relationships. So today’s question is this:

Is jealousy purely a negative and potentially destructive emotion, or does jealousy have any value as a motivator to drive people to improve themselves?

If you choose to participate, write a post with your response to the question. Once you are done, tag your post with #FPQ and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments. But remember to check to confirm that your pingback or your link shows up in the comments.

On-the-Job Jealousy

IMG_2462

Walt walked into the office after lunch and immediately noticed the two floral arrangements sitting on his coworker’s desk.

“Who sent you flowers?” Walt asked Anna.

“Aren’t they beautiful,” Anna replied, blushing.

“Yeah, lovely,” Walt said sarcastically. “Who sent them to you?”

“My date from last night.”

Walt and Anna had been dating for a few months until Anna had to break it off due to Walt’s possessiveness and unbridled jealousy.

“Yeah? Did you have to give him a blow job to get those?” Walt asked Anna.

“Asshole!” Anna snapped.

“Whore!” Walt snapped back.

“You’re both fired!” snapped their boss.
