Here’s the thing. I’m not forced to wear one outfit over and over again. I am retired and I choose to wear the same outfit over and over again. In the late fall through the spring, that outfit consists of a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and sneakers. In the warmer months, the sweatshirt is replaced by a T-shirt and the sweatpants are replaced by lightweight jogging pants.
You see, I choose comfort over style. And why not? As a retiree, I don’t often have people to see, things to do, or places to go. So why not dress as comfortably and as casually as possible?
On those relatively infrequent occasions when I do have people to see, things to do, or places to go, I will don a collared sport shirt over a white T-shirt, and replace my sweatpants or jogging pants with jeans.
Now just to be clear, I have a closet full of sweatshirts, sweatpants, jogging pants, collared sports shirts, and jeans. So when I say I wear the same outfit over and over, I’m talking about the same style of outfit, not the exact same outfit day after day. That could get pretty gross after three or four days.
