Home Sweet Home

The husband and I took a road trip last weekend to help our son and his pregnant wife (carrying my twin Grandbabies) with their new home. They out grew their tiny pea sized apartment and were ready to embrace some square footage where they can move and chase two little up coming boys.
It's a lovely home with a beautiful yard. The previous owner was in the landscaping business and did a remarkable job with his skills. He planted a variety of flowering plants so there would be color year round.

My son had a list of projects for his father. They installed a washer and dryer, a doggy door, new door handles throughout the house and mounted their t.v. on the wall.

While they were working on the manly projects my DIL and I cleaned the house from top to bottom. She was quite a trooper and tried not to show how tired she was. Finally, she gave herself a break and sat for a spell.
I took advantage of the break and took more pictures of the flowers that surround the house. I love flowers.
Our trip was a short one. Two days of driving to and from and two days to get the house ready for the move.
It really made me sad to leave, but you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be back when those babies are born.

Going to the Jim

I shutter as I open the doors, do I dare enter? Why would I want to do this to myself, why would I purposely want to inflict pain when I'm not into this sort of thing? I feel as if I'm entering a house of horror, perhaps a torture chamber would be a better description. As I look around I see all kinds of equipment, equipment that makes me want to turn around and bolt. But then again, that would require running so I reluctantly stepped inside.

The owner and personal trainer Jim walks around the corner and greets me with a friendly smile. He's not fooling me, I've seen that same mischievous grin on the Cheshire Cat.  I nervously introduce myself, all the while thinking, "Why am I here again?"

It wasn't that long ago I was in a good place with the Zumba and Yoga classes, then summer started and we could no longer hold them at the school. If we wanted to continue through the summer months we would have to go to the local YMCA. Since I didn't want to make the drive, my friend and I began walking in the mornings to compensate.

We caught wind of a VGX (Volution Group Exercise) total body class through a mutual friend and decided to give it a try. I give anything a try, I mean, what could it hurt?

Holy moly, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. What it was hurting was my every muscle.

You see I have this aversion to painful exercise and pushing body to higher limits. Zumba is fun, exciting and exhilarating. Yoga is hard but relaxing. I like fun and relaxing.

There's nothing fun or relaxing about VGX. OK so I take it back, the M&M's are great and no, we're not rewarded with candy. It's the middle aged moms I exercise with, we gate the pain through laughter and silly humor, in between breaths that is.

Three weeks later and I'm still going strong. It's crazy or at least I must be because this total body workout goes against my very nature but yet I keep going back.

So I'm a glutton for punishment, but I'm liking the results.
