01 - Langkawi Trip - A night at Kuala Perlis

Day 01: Sunday, 28 May 2023

Route: KL - Kuala Perlis

The years we all lost to Covid-19 pandemic were the years where we were grounded and as a family, we were not able to spend so much time together.

It was a school holiday and we planned to spend a few days in Langkawi. Sara and family flew direct from Johor Bharu. Iwan and Ella were unable to join because of work commitment, so only Hana and Amir joined us on a road trip to Kuala Perlis. From there we took the ferry to Kuah, Langkawi. We had booked  3-bedrooms chalet at BNM Langkawi Resort in Pantai Chenang for four nights and had arranged for transport rental during the stay.

It was fun to have all the grandchildren together. It was not always easy to handle them, but spending time and doing activities together was priceless. Family holidays always create memories that last a lifetime.

We braved the massive traffic jam of the Chinese New Year holiday.

We started our journey north after sending Ella to the KL Sentral. Ella is travelling to the UK to spend a week's holiday in London with Iwan who was already there for work.

We are babysitting Hana and Amir for a week. As it was also a school holiday, we decided to bring them to Perlis for a family reunion with the Truecolour Bikerz gang. We stayed a night in D'View Guesthouse and visited Gua Kelam, Wang Kelian and spent half a day in Padang Besar for a shopping spree.

On the way back to KL, we had to detour in and out of PLUS highway onto the old trunk road to avoid the massive traffic jam. It took us more than 13 hours to reach home.

Perlis - Cave of Darkness...

My court case in Kuala Kubu Baru this week was postponed to a later date so I was able to travel with hubby to Perlis. During the short stay in Kangar and in between his scheduled meetings, we managed to explore Gua Kelam, did a little shopping at Padang Besar and had seafood dinner at Kuala Perlis.

Gua Kelam is situated at Kaki Bukit, a 370-metre long limestone cave can be access by way of a suspension bridge. The uniqueness of the entrance and the experience of walking along the bridge, make exploration of this cave an adventurous experience.

A cool underground stream flows in the limestone cave for about a quarter of a mile long. The cave is clean and free of bats smell.

A wooden walkway hangs suspended throughout the length of the underground cavern leading to picnic spot on the opposite end called the Wan Tangga Valley.

We only stayed a night in Kangar and later spent a long relaxing weekend in Sri Kijang, Langkawi.
