I'll put the poem first - then you can skip the rant!

Out of May's Shows Selected

Apple orchards, the trees all cover'd with blossoms;
Wheat fields carpeted far and near in vital emerald green;
The eternal, exhaustless freshness of each early morning;
The yellow, golden, transparent haze of the warm afternoon sun;
The aspiring lilac bushes with profuse purple or white flowers.

Walt Whitman

I can't get that out of my head at the moment  - entirely pandemonium_213's fault for quoting Whitman!. The most gorgeous images of spring! A photographer's wish-list!

Teh Rant and teh Writing... )
(Cover your eyes, Jaiden! It's the infamous MEFA post!)

Many, many thanks to those who nominated my writing ('stories' seems a rather ambitious definition!).

Thank you - I really appreciate it!

On nominating - I'm now looking to pick the 'less likely' candidates. But I'll keep a few in hand for the 'OMG - why didn't that get picked???' stories.

(I still hate trying to reduce < 400 words of writing into the form - where I have to write more words than I did in the fiction. That's just... just... twisted and mean! <- j/k)

After delay upon delay - for years - the Herschel and Planck missions launched :D

Phew...

They really have been dogged by problems since day one. I don't really remember the design and build very fondly! I doubt anyone involved does ;P Nonetheless, I'm very, very glad to say it went well. Telemetry looks good :D

Here's an amusing image of Herschel's telescope mirror (Courtesy of ESA)

Now I'm going to go find beer!
