Kraft Plus Challenge sponsored by Scrap FX!

Hi All!
Just a little bit excited to be asked to guest design, as part of the Scrap FX Team, for the new challenge blog, Kraft plus. This months challenge is a sketch that I loved working with.
Scrap FX are sponsors this month so I can assure you
the prize pack will be simply fabulous!!! (a little biased I know!)
Enough random ramblings here is the Sketch and here is where you can find the challenge details

So the challenge required the sketch and some sparkle, here is what I created. I hope you get that I did use the sketch, I do tend to loose myself when I create so I did get a little off track, but I assure you I did have the sketch firmly in mind!

I had a hankering for a girly page so used this photo (from a recent wedding) of my nieces. Loved the print of their dresses, I did try to replicate the water colour look on the page.

The Scrap FX chippies I used are treated with embossing enamel from Stampendous, just cannot keep my hands off the stuff!

I did not want a solid gold lump of chipboard so I painted first then added the powder in random places then cut the pieces to spread over the page and create a balanced look.
I gessoed the background and used the random dots stencil to create a little texture.

The metallic sections on the background are created by stamping with a tacky glue then using gilding flakes....love this look but be warned it is sooooo messy! Those flakes are just so light they fly everywhere....I found myself holding my breath!!!

The colour I created by spreading a little Lindys Stamp Gang Sprays around, using a brush the spraying with water to create "drippage" trying to get that look on their dressses.

Take a peek I even used some glittery bits! I don't get to do that too often with the boys!!!

I attached the shiny bits with gel medium....those little suckers are not going anywhere!!!

So that is about it from me hope I have inspired!!!! Head over to the Kraft Plus blog and take a look at all the other fabulous Designers takes, I am sure you will be racing to your own scrapping corner to  create a up storm!!

Happy Place!

Hey Lovelies!
A new month, means a load of new releases at Scrap FX to play with.
So much to love about these releases and I just love  Grunge and Steampunk it sends me to my Happy Place!!! Check out all the goodies here!
I have had fun so far and I have so many more designs in my head, just need to find time to get them done!!
First a layout featuring my eldest with his best mate before footy Best and Fairest presentation Night:

I used this new piece, the Circle Mash Collage, added some micro Cogs and hey hey we have a grungy steampunk page!

If you take a close look you might be able to see these two  beauties I used in the background.  Grunge and Harlequin stamps. These 2 made me squeal Out Loud!

Yes my mini Banner obsession continues!

My next Layout has my niece as the star!
Once I saw this Grungy Wing Stencil, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Grungy Wing Stencil
Just do a flip and you have a perfect pair!
I used texture paste to create my wings here.

Here are a few closer shots:

The Micro Cogs, cogs and flourishes worked so well together to create depth to the "wings".

I used the Random Dots Stencil with texture paste to create some "movement" on the page.

I really got my pink Mojo going on here, something very rare!

PicMonkey Collage

I do love how this one turned out!
Well I am done for now I will be back as the other projects I have in mind take shape, but for now it's bye bye!

More fun Stuff!

Back again with another page made for Scrap FX with their new releases for May.
This time I used these very cool hash bits and hash foam stamps......I was so inspired when I first laid my eyes on these. I am certain they will feature in lots of my future creations.

Hash BitsHash Stamps
I used the foam stamps on the background stamping the ink in a random manner. The best thing about these foam stamps they really keep on stamping even with one ink application.

I also stamped into the wet light molding paste to create texture.

I inked the hash bits with black then added embossing powder roughly so that it was not perfect coverage.

Here is the full page of my nieces hamming it up once again!

I used this Bracket word as my title and my journalling .... how easy is that??
{Happiness......

I used the black ink once again and some gold paint for the highlights and smaller lettering as they looked lost all in black.

The background sprays are all from Lindys' Stamp Gang. The patterned paper is all Graphic 45.

I tried to replicate the hash pattern with the patterned paper.

Lastly I just embellished away with sequins and liquid pearls.

Well that is it for me for now, hope you are all creating away and perhaps I have thrown just a little inspiration your way!
Hugs,

Last Challenge for the Month!

Back again with another LO for a challenge over at Page Drafts
This time I just made it in time, so it was a little bit of a rush but it was fun. I onlyjust discovered the treasures of this site a couple of weeks ago, but I had to find time to participate .... their sketches are just awesome!!
Check out this super sketch (it is only one of many amazing sketches to be found on this site):

Now everyone knows I do not deal with pink too well, but something about this sketch caught my eye and got the creative juices flowing.  After looking over all my pages last year I am trying to break away from the Blues and greens that were (For me) very 2013! Cannot say I will never resort back to my favourite colour scheme, but am trying out a few varieties at least. So lets get on with it shall we?

The theme for the challenge was Valentines.... another topic I struggle with, it seems 2014 is the year of challenging myself!
I have used a photo of my better half in his happy place. Surfing makes him feel young again and now that the boys surf with him, he has an absolute ball!
Here are a few detail shots:

I am so in love with the Basic Grey Persimmon paper line, I have been hoarding it for a while so it was time to use it, love all the greys and neutral tones!

I have used Scrap FX Chevron stencil and scribble circle foam stamp, Gesso, ink, Graphic45 stamps and embossing powder on the background for my usual very messy look.

The chipboard scribble words make a great title with a little ink and embossing powder.

Love the look of random bits of embossing powder on the background.

Well that is about all from me for the month, see you next time and thanks so much if you leave a little love!!
I do appreciate that you have taken the time to comment!

"She" Art ....my Style

Hi All,
and a belated, happy new year to all my lovely visitors!!
After a wonderful summer break I feel fresh and inspired.
I have long admired all the SHE art canvases I have seen over the last few years but have never got around to creating something along those lines myself. That is until now......... I do not do pretty though so had to go for a  grungy, steampunk version!

I managed to get my hands dirty before Christmas using bits and pieces from my Scrap FX stash.... yes I do have a mountain of chippies to keep me in my happy inky place!
So here she is........

I was originally inspired by the Headgear lady from Scrap FX,
Headgear Lady
isn't she a treat? And the bonus is, she comes with the cool book paper already cut behind her!
I added a few more components to give her a little more depth because, well, I simply could not help myself!

I treated the chippies on her head and the letters with embossing powder so that they would "pop" as the main feature of the canvas.

As well as the powder I sprayed the letters and allowed the ink to pool for a grungy distressed look.

I built up a heap of texture on the canvas board with texture paste, stencils and of course the chipboard pieces, then got really slap happy with "Lindys Stamp Gang" sprays and paint.

There are a few elements that are metal in the mix but you can hardly tell which is which once I was done adding the layers of paint and ink.

Lastly I highlighted bits and pieces with inca gold so the details popped out.
All that is left now is to figure out what to do with her?

So that is my first post for 2014!
What are your plans for 2014? I avoid resolutions  as I usually break them by the time January is done, so now I just have "Plans" that are very short term and achievable, that way I avoid being disappointed with my good self!!

Thanks one and all for dropping by!
