mcbangle: Superman says "Okay, now that's just creepy" (Supes_Creepy)

As usual, I am the slowest marathon-viewer ever. And my ability to marathon Stranger Things is particularly limited by several factors:
  1. I can't watch it in front of my (young) kids;
  2. My husband wants to watch it too, so I need to watch at his pace (this may actually be a good thing, because he won't let me rewind and re-watch my favorite bits over and over; I'll have to save the rewatch for after we finish it. But it also means I can't just sneak off to watch it on my own time. Or I guess I could, but then I'd feel guilty about it);
  3. We are middle-aged, and can't stay up very late without falling asleep.
So, 2 days in, and we've watched 3 episodes. Which is better than my usual 1 episode per day rate.

TBH, I wasn't enthused after episode 1. I'm not interested in watching Eleven and Mike make out. As a parent (albeit not of teenagers yet), I suppose I was meant to relate to Hopper's freak out over their relationship but no. He is really creepy and possessive this season and I do not like it. And give Joyce her space already! It's not nice that she stood him up, but she doesn't owe him dates just because he's been pining over her. Sean Astin died in a traumatic and scary way and she deserves time to heal! Anyway, maybe nerds are her type and that's fine! Maybe you're just not her type, Hopper! Back the fuck off!

Um, yeah, so I don't like Hopper this season. I also saw a couple of headlines (while not looking for spoilers, I swear to God this time I wasn't), each of which on their own presumably was trying to be spoiler-free but combined I'm pretty sure gave me a spoiler about Hopper but if it's true, honestly, at this point in the show I don't care.

Aaaaaaanyway, I also don't care about Nancy or Jonathan and as much as I love Steve Harrington, I was not amused by him trying and failing to hit on every girl who walked into his ice cream shop in the first episode. I think the only characters I sympathized with at the end of episode 1 were Dustin (always!) and Will? Who (sorry) just annoyed me throughout the first 2 seasons. But I like him much better now.

All of which sounds like I hate season 3 but it really picked up with episode 2!

Steve's and Dustin's reunion was just a put down the phone, pick up the popcorn, this is why I watch this show moment. I love their broship so much and I'm so glad that it continued even when there wasn't (at the time) a threat of demodogs and other Upside-Down threats. They were both separately my favorite characters in season 1 so when they teamed up in season 2 I just died. I love that they are BFFs. There is something so very, very fun about the two of them together.

And Robin is awesome and I love Dustin & Robin & Steve teaming up to hunt evil Russian spies who are operating in the mall?!?! Amazing.

And I am so glad that El and Max are hanging out now bc it was BS that El got instantly jealous of Max the moment she saw her in season 2. Thank you for female friendship and girl power!

And also-also, the soundtrack is amazing and I'm glad they spared no expense. And as always, the 1980s movie references, *chef's kiss*.

Why is this show so good?!?!? I am psyched to watch the rest. (Watch something come up and me not finish it for like another 2 weeks, as usual.)
