What happened to Moretti (John Malkovich), an iconic, red-flared, groundbreaking music star who retreated from public life three decades ago? That's the task given to journalist Ariel (Ayo Edebiri) in A24's new film Opus.

Written and directed by Mark Anthony Green, Opus sees The Bear star invited to Moretti's luxe compound in Utah for "an exclusive listening experience" of what appears to be his first work released in 30 years. Only a small selection of press have been extended the invitation. But there's a sinister plan afoot, and Ariel might be the only one who sees it beyond the towering displays of reverence and blue-clad cult followers ambling about the grounds.

It's a killer cast, this one; Amber Midthunder (Prey), Juliette Lewis (Yellowjackets), Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Stephanie Suganami (Power Book II: Ghost), Young Mazino (Beef), and Tony Hale (The Decameron) also star.

Opus is out in cinemas March 12.
