I'll be off twitter for a while. It seems like I have stuck my foot on my mouth again with my family. It has sucked all the enjoyment out of keeping up with them.

I would say that they get along like cats and dogs, but I actually have two cats and two dogs living happily together in the house. No, they get along more like fire and water.

I'm not going to make the mistake of deleting my twitter account like I did last time: it took me too long to gather all my friends back. Instead, I'm going to just not be following twitter for a while.

I'll still be hanging around here at Dreamwidth if anyone wants to get in touch.

Thanks,
Marisa

Here is a picture of dragonairstar's latest kitten. This is a picture I snapped prior to rescuing him. He has been taking up most of my time recently. The older he gets, the more he wants to play.

I had been watching the kittens for a while, taking pictures, and worrying about this one. His mother is barely more than a kitten herself. She didn't have much milk; but worse, she started nursing some of the older kittens from a different cat.

Tadpole, hardly old enough to be out of his nest, was wandering around the yard trying to catch something to eat. He was still young enough that his eyes would mat closed. When I left for work one morning, I found him lost in the middle of the yard, unable to see. I moved him to the house, tucking him under the porch, expecting his mother to find him and take him back to his nest. When I got home in the evening he was still there, still unable to see, and even hungrier than he was that morning. I had my doubts he would make the night.

What could I do? I scooped him up and brought him into the house. We didn't have much to feed a kitten his size, but dragonairstar scrounged around enough to get him through the night.

It's kind of funny, both of my dogs think they are his mom. He gets washed more by dog tongues than any other cat I have ever seen.

I am just coming to the end of a long day. Like many such days, I dug into the news is an attempt to stay awake.

It could be that I am just too tired to put things together consistently in my head, but it seems there was a complete change in the way the people and courts are reacting to the current administration as compared to the previous one.

I have been reading on "Dispatches from the Culture Wars" that since President Obama's election his administration has been continuing many of the policies of the Bush administration at least in regards to the Justice Department. But one thing that seems to have changed is the way the courts are reacting to the same actions. For instance, Reuters is reporting that many of the documents that the Obama administration tried to keep secret were ordered to be put forth in an open court.

I do agree that any evidence the government uses to justify the continued detention of prisoners needs to be available to the public, but it doesn't seem like the previous administration would have been compelled to present those documents.

It is entirely possible that it is just me and my perspective. I will freely admit that I didn't like the Bush administration. And while I did defend it against people that claimed it would destroy the world, I can't think of a worse administration in my lifetime.

All I'm really left with is a curious question about whether my perceptions of the way the public and courts are treating this administration are different from the way they treated the last.
