Frequently asked questions

How is this different from reversing?

Reversing replaces the animation with its mirror. Ping pong keeps the original and adds the reverse after it, so the loop runs forward then back.

Why does the seam look smooth?

Because the loop turns around on the last frame rather than cutting back to the first. There is no jump, which is the whole point of a boomerang.

Does the file double in size?

Close to it, since the frame count doubles. Trimming the source before the ping pong pass keeps the result manageable.

What footage works best?

Motion that has somewhere to return to: a door opening, a wave, a jump. Continuous travel in one direction looks odd played back.
