Comparison notes & sources Reviewed October 12, 2026
Compare the built-in workflows: Git APIs and sandbox snapshots can also support an app platform you build yourself. Mainbrella supplies the AI builder, repo launch flow, binary file transfers, source browsing, version history, and Git export. How we preserve source and Git history. Cloudflare services power Mainbrella’s platform; this does not mean an app automatically receives its own D1 database.
Filesystem stop/resume and fork preserve files and installed dependencies; a saved foreground launch recipe restarts the app and checks HTTP readiness. Fresh processes start from saved files; RAM is not preserved. Production startup checks restored three prepared app copies automatically. Lost-reply checks recovered a usable save on all three providers without a second capture: Mainbrella replayed a request key; E2B and Daytona looked up a persisted name. The loss occurred after a successful response, not before admission. These small runs establish behavior, not comparative reliability, speed, or cost.
Managed execution supports background jobs, streamed output, reconnection, cancellation, terminal input, and resizing. Matched checks recovered the same job identity and remaining output on all three providers. Python contexts require an image with Python and retain state only within a running context; restarting or restoring a workspace does not recover that state. Mainbrella’s telemetry row covers lifecycle history, live activity feeds, and OTLP export; hosted metrics and webhooks are not currently enabled. E2B’s OTel export requires onboarding setup.
Mainbrella’s outbound domain/IP policies and proxy-injected secret vault are coming soon and are not currently available in the hosted service. The comparison does not treat them as shipped capabilities.
Production hosting and custom domains require an enabled deployment and funding. Mainbrella’s prepaid balance and monthly cap cover compute, build AI, and storage; the default cap is $5. E2B’s published 1h/24h limits apply to continuous Hobby/Pro sessions, not total sandbox lifetime; Enterprise terms differ. Plans and availability can change.
E2B sources: budgets & session limits, snapshots, background commands, PTYs, code contexts, interpreter languages, lifecycle events, telemetry export, network rules, secrets, open source.
Daytona sources: Git APIs, Playground, lifecycle, snapshots, commands & code contexts, PTYs, OpenTelemetry, webhooks, network rules, secrets, billing, custom preview proxy, open-source update.
Everything you need
Powerful building blocks. No compromises.
Complex features.
Simple for developers.
Real Linux containers
Run Linux environments on Cloudflare Containers. Install tools, run any stack, and use real system software.
Durable account orchestration
Durable Objects coordinate account state, project access, and container lifecycle.
Persistent workspaces
Save files and restore them into a fresh machine when you resume work.
Networking & secrets
Use outbound networking and inject credentials where enabled. Private HTTP services are available as a prototype.
Managed executions
Run commands, stream output, reconnect, and cancel through the API and SDKs.
Warm pools
Prewarm workers with the SDK. Managed pools are available on supported deployments.
Git URL launcher & AI builder
Launch a public repository or describe an app and start with a running environment.
Production hosting
Run always-on containers and connect custom domains on supported deployments.
