Fuaim enters a new phase of its club-rooted evolution with a propulsive three-tracker from UK talent Wigs — a fast-rising force whose barrelling basslines and psychedelic finesse are reshaping the landscape of progressive trance and house.

With previous outings on labels like Goddezz, Neptune Discs and Habibi Bass, Wigs has been steadily refining a sound that merges late-night weight with crisp, trance-inflected clarity.  On Pressure Control, he delivers his most focused work to date, four tracks tuned for heavy rotation. 

Opener “Move It To The Sound” kicks things off at full throttle—alarm-synths and driving low-end wrapped in hypnotic propulsion. “Closer Into Me” shifts into sleazier territory: breathy vocal cuts and tribal swing locked into a heady, seductive rhythm that fits the late, foggy hours of the night. “Fly By” follows with a radiant, bass-driven cut that channels the same hypnotic pressure through a slightly brighter lens. Etari brings her signature LA-crafted depth to a remix of “Closer Into Me,” stretching it into a restrained, textured flip that bridges groove and atmosphere.

Pressure Control expands on Fuaim’s evolving identity: rooted in progressive house and trance, but stripped of nostalgia and charged with modern psychedelic force.

pi premiere: Serenity Complex & Aika Mal - Not Going Back [Companion]

Naarm/Melbourne-based label Companion expands its ever-evolving roster of considered downtempo with 'The Garden', a cross-border dialogue between Serenity Complex and Aika Mal. The result of a remote collaboration between London and Belfast, 'The Garden' is an EP born primarily from seasonal dance floor fatigue, and a push towards music a little more 'real'.

Across the EP, the ongoing protest against that fatigue sees the duo finding a sonic voice through loose, slick approaches to jungle and dub-heavy trip-hop. The result is a release brimming with subtle confidence, where Aika Mal's voice hooks the listener in with hypnotic allure, while Serenity Complex (Wigs)' use of breaks paint around her words.

'Falling Deep', premiered here via Mixmag ANZ, is the release's penultimate track, in which breaks give way to a slow, deep downtempo groove. With a rich, plucked bass line serving as its base, droning pads and a dubbed-out melody are paired alongside Aika Mal's vocals to create something addictively transportive. 

As the pads build and pull back, there's a kind of unresolved tension that has us listening to 'Falling Deep' over & over again.

'The Garden' releases both digitally and as a limited vinyl this Thursday, June 25 via Companion's Bandcamp.
