Das ist eine Rekonstruktion meines Sets, das ich am 3. Mai 2025 bei „BASS to the ROOTS“ in der Alten Ziegelei – Ottrau gespielt habe.

Leider habe ich vergessen, die Aufnahme zu starten, daher habe ich den kompletten Mix zu Hause nachgebaut – gleiche Tracks, gleiche Energie.

Danke an alle, die auf der Tanzfläche dabei waren – dieser Mix ist für euch.

This is a reconstruction of the set I played at „BASS to the ROOTS" @ Alte Ziegelei - Ottrau on May 3rd, 2025. 

Unfortunately, I forgot to hit record, so I recreated the full mix at home – same tracks, same energy.

Thanks to everyone who was there on the dancefloor – this one’s for you.

BASS to the ROOTS (Reconstructed-Set)

It begins with a signal. Faint, pulsing, distant – but impossible to ignore. Pt.1 of Ferrera’s Comet Session launches the series with a hypnotic fusion of Indie Dance textures and tight Rhythms. Sonic transmissions from deep space – this is where the story begins.

The Comet Session Pt.1 - Signal Received

After a journey through darkness, distortion, and unrelenting battles, the crew finally reaches the source of the mysterious signal.
But it’s not a distress call. It’s an invitation.

Orbiting a glowing – yet unstable – planet floats a colossal structure: an interstellar dance temple where thousands of alien beings lose themselves in hypnotic rhythms.
The species had learned of the Captain’s DJ mastery – and encoded the signal as a special guest invitation.
But time is short. Decades of energy extraction from the planet’s core to power the rave complex have destabilized its inner structure.
This will be the final night.
As the Comet lands, the Captain takes control. Systems sync with alien tech, the air begins to vibrate, and the crew becomes part of a farewell set that will echo across galaxies.
One last ecstatic eruption before everything dissolves.

No. 2 der Narcotic Electropolis - Revisited Reihe

Knatterton hat es geschafft, eine richtig starke Mischung aus alten und neuen Tracks nahtlos zusammenzubringen.
Das Set wirkt höchst organisch und fühlt sich so an, als hätte es auf einer der damaligen Narcotic-Partys ganz selbstverständlich funktioniert - es wäre damals garantiert ordentlich gefeiert worden.

Besonders das saubere, unaufgeregte Mixing macht den Mix sehr angenehm zu hören und sorgt für einen durchgehenden Flow.

Sehr passend dazu auch sein eigenes Statemen: 

„Das war oder ist für mich auch schon lange der Spaßfaktor, Sachen zu finden, die 15 Jahre auseinander-liegen, aber zusammen funktionie-ren."

Genau das spiegelt sich auch in der Trackauswahl wider: Zwischen den einzelnen Stücken liegen drei Jahrzehnte - vom ältesten Track bis hin zu sehr aktuellen Releases. Und trotzdem greift alles mühelos ineinander. Dieses Weiterdenken des damaligen Sounds macht den Mix für mich besonders stark.

Neben Electro, Techno und vielen anderen Einflüssen gab es in den 2000ern auch eine Phase, die auch wir Narcotic Electropolis-Dudes gefeiert haben: Minimal.

Und wenn man an diese Zeit denkt, kommt man an einem Label kaum vorbei: Minus.

Der reduzierte, hypnotische Sound prägte damals die Clublandschaft maßgeblich.
Diese Minus Edition der Narcotic Electropolis Mix Series ist eine kleine Hommage an genau diese Phase. Ein Mix, der sich ausschließlich diesem Sound widmet.

Dieses 3-Stunden-Set entstand einige Tage vor Bass To The Roots Vol. 2 als grobe Vorbereitung auf die Party. „Vorbereitung“ bedeutet in diesem Fall: ein paar alte Tracks aus der Versenkung holen, Tracks sammeln und schauen, wohin die Reise gehen könnte.

Damit ist nun diese Aufnahme plötzlich übrig. Und bevor sie ungehört auf der Festplatte Staub ansetzt oder versehentlich dem digitalen Nirwana übergeben wird, bekommt sie hiermit doch noch ihren Auftritt.

Diese Aufnahme zeigt also irgendwie eine Art ursprünglichen Plan … oder zumindest das, was davon übrig blieb, bevor die Realität übernommen hat.

Mit dabei sind einige Tracks, die es nicht ins Live-Set geschafft haben.

This 3-hour set was recorded a few days before Bass To The Roots Vol. 2 as a rough preparation for my live performance. In this case, “preparation” meant digging up a few old tracks from obscurity, gathering music, and seeing where the journey might lead.

So this recording suddenly found itself without a clear purpose. And before it started collecting dust unheard on my hard drive—or accidentally vanished into digital nirvana—it seemed only fair to give it a proper release.

So this mix represents some kind of original plan... or at least whatever was left of it before reality took over.

It also includes a number of tracks that didn’t make it into the live set.

My roots in electronic music go deep into the eighties, when bands like Depeche Mode, Front 242, and Nitzer Ebb changed my world. The nineties pulled me even deeper into the club scene, with legendary nights at Aufschwung Ost in Kassel (later Stammheim) and the Omen in Frankfurt. At some point I found myself behind the decks, playing in various clubs and venues.

After a family break (yes, even DJs switch from basslines to diaper duties sometimes!), I’m currently spinning mostly for myself, with friends, and at small private parties—JUST FOR FUN!
