Billie Eilish - Bittersuite [hal3 Reflection Mix]

A work in progress and the first of several remixes I'm working on based on the new Billie Eilish album. The track Bittersuite is a wild and weird track that winds its way through several passages. The first passage is amazingly beautiful. And the final passage gives off cool edm vibes when double-timed.

Their generously releasing isolated vocals is christmas for any remixer. With that said, Billie's voice is so crazy beautiful and Finneas' composition and production is so good.

[WIP] Life's little blessings - having friends and artists that you get to collaborate with. On a recent project of mine, I am using a track by Glau Rossi that is so simple and so beautiful. He foolishly offered up the stems for the track so that I could better mix them into my project (which I did and am so grateful). One thing led to another and the next thing I knew I found his stems in an Ableton project being remixed by yours truly. 

This track is a true collaboration as all 8 stems of his are in full use within this remix - just modified, tweaked, processed and flavored to taste. 

This track is for my dear friend Glau - who's music moves me more than he will ever be able to fully understand. This remix is my expression and extension of how his track makes me feel every time I listen to it. So incredibly amazing - thank you.

Billie Eilish - Blue [hal3 Deep Mix]

After a year of sitting on a failed remix (because SoundCloud resisted me posting it) - I reopened the remix and reworked it. For me Blue is such a beautiful track. Billie's vocals captured me and transported me to a dark, beautiful and haunting place. I believe that I was able to find a nice creative place that still highlights her vocals and the original composition, but puts all sorts of other around it.

Again, this would not have been as easily possible if it had not been for Billie and Finneas releasing the digital album with isolated vocals.

Billie Eilish - Blue [hal3 Deep Mix]

This is a track from almost a year ago - not sure how it never got done. It could be that I just got really busy. So I open it, tickle it a little, and its almost ready. This will be one of six tracks to jump onto a simple multi-ambient EP "Ambient Portraits Vol.1".

A track I originally created to submit into the Soundpaint contest using their free libraries. Most of the track utilizes Soundpaint, however as I didn't submit it I've elected to finish it with a broader number of instruments and libraries. 

This will appear on the new EP I'm working on Ambient Portraits Vol.1

When life throws you amazing artists and amazing material what do you do? You remix the shit out of it. This is after one day of stem prep, sound design, arrangement, and some engineering. Still lots to do - so take the mix with a grain of salt.

So many years ago I got a remix kit from Em from Chiasm. We have known each other for so many years and worked together a couple of times. She sang on the mindFluxFuneral song "You and I" - and have always loved her work. 

So --- what do you do when you find that remix kit again? when you have been doing all these remixes of late? --- yeah --- you start that damn remix for her! :D

This is just a work in progress --- its not mixed --- not done --- and likely different from what it will end up. It is close tho. I LOVE the vocoder I added. And I think I can make the track stomp really nice.

[WIP] chiasm - phobic [hale remix]

an old track pulled out of the depths of dat'dom and translated into a track that perhaps h.e.r will use. It is really really rough and not at all mixed but enough to get the idea across.

21 - human formality mix

This track is from my college portfolio.  ?(LIFE) was a collaboration between my friend and classmate Tom. He and I elected to make a video that compared and contrasted two fundamental elements of "LIFE", Growth and Decay.  The video experimented with subjects, techniques, and themes in order to present our ideas. 

We used this music for Growth. After discovering the original mixdown, I decided to remix and master the track. It was splendid to experience remaking the track and re-hearing the parts. I'm impressed by what I was able to write and mixdown on such a simple and rudimentary setup back in 1990 (just a Ensoniq VFX/SD). And I really like how I am able to add elements now that I didn't have then. I tried to be true to the original material - and therefore I kept both the good and bad compositionally. 

The video for Growth combined found footage of natures time lapse with our own time lapse of sunrise over Lake Michigan, and our own footage nature from Turkey Run (in Indiana). Shots are faded and superimposed against the sunrise - signifying time. Plants growing, crystals forming, embryos developing, and images of natures erosion - all representing nature and growth. 

As with most of my projects, the soundtrack is something that I composed and recorded. The original soundtrack was recorded in five sections (prepend, Growth, middle, Decay, end) and then each section was mixed together in the editing studio with its video counterpart.

Its a cover of the Terminator soundtrack. This version is the pre-version that was the basis of the Cyanotic version. There is a pretty big difference between this version and Sean & Jamie's version. They took my contribution and made the Cyanotic version wonderfully realized.
