Press Printing

I was lucky enough to go on a workshop after school tonight.

Set up for teachers and TA's.

the printing tile on the right and it printed on paper and fabric
Run by artist Sue we had a go at Press Printing, it was great to do something crafty again.

Printed on black paper
We also had a go at weaving on card looms
Weaving
We used fabric, wool, beads, ribbon, tissue paper and plastic bags

I think I will be printing my Christmas cards next year, I really enjoyed doing it!

On the way to the workshop I had to stop to take some photos of the sunset at Hollingworth Lake.

I stood and watched the seagulls swooping and the ducks gliding.

seven swans a swimming
The swans were swimming, than as I was about to get into my car when the geese flew in low, making a right racket and landed as one in on the lake.

It was a lovely 10 minutes, then I went on to have fun at the workshop.

Bah Humbug......ground to a halt.....

.....the building work that is.
The workroom has a floor and a chandelier. The rest is going very.......very.......slowly.
It won't be finished before Christmas so I have cancelled Christmas for this year!
Some decorating has been done upstairs and outside but the floors, radiators, sockets and heating is still unfinished. Every trade seems to be waiting for an other and they are waiting for an other!!!
Sorry, moan over!
Sunrise on Wednesday
There has been some wonderful sunrises and sunsets recently though.

Sunset on Thursday

I was feeling a little left out yesterday. The whole of the country had a blanket of snow, and there was not a flake to be seen in West Yorkshire!

but it arrived during the night.
maybe I won't cancel Christmas after all....... just do a more modest Christmas this year.......the snow has had a magical effect!

set backs

So sorry I have not been around, Thank you to all those who have asked where I am! I am still here, trying to read other peoples blogs when I can but it is so busy round here, I don't know where I am half the time!

My workroom won't be ready before Christmas now. Most of it will be done but the joiner can't get the shelving done till some time in January. The new study/library room will also be shelf-less as he is making those too! Oh well.

other things are on schedule. The conservatory went and we now have a lovely room in it's place which will be our new dining room. The two spare rooms are ready for decorating and the en suite is almost ready. The kitchen is also nearly there.

Using fabric paints and crayons
I started a Craft Club after school for the year 3 children this week. 22 children (most of the class!) wanted to join and we had to split them into two groups one per half term. We are decorating plain white aprons, with the idea we use the aprons when making messy stuff at the craft club. It went well and they seemed to enjoy it. The school secretary (who use to be a TA) is helping me at the club as I think 11 on my own would be a bit too much at the end of a long Monday! New post on the school log blog here, about the Crafty Club.

Misty Mornings
It has been a grey old day here and there has been little opportunity to photograph anything nice either on the way to or coming home from work.

I did manage a few at the weekend-some while Hubby was driving and he refused to stop so they are a bit blurred-men!
We had a lovely time at my brother's surprise party last night (I made his book and everyone signed it on the night) It was so nice to catch up with family who we have not seen for years and years.

This weekend we are trying to clean upstairs a bit but I am finding it hard to move away from the sofa in front of the fire!!!
and Lucy can't move off the bed!

bye bye Autumn

Saturday morning sunshine
The wind and the rain has blown away the autumn colour that I was enjoying so much. I fear winter is here and autumn is swiftly becoming a memory.
The house is so cold because of the building work being done and this doesn't help my mood. Every one has told me that at some point the building work would get to me and I am at that point. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel but the dust and dirt is on everything and I am fed up of the mess the house is in.

The conservatory has gone!!!
moan, moan, moan..... I know. I should be grateful, I am getting a beautiful house at the end of this with my very own work room (with chandelier!) get a grip girl!

colour enhanced photo
I had a lovely day with my mum last Saturday. We went shopping and had a giggle trying on hats in the shops. Then we ate Chinese snacks from M&S while watching Strictly Come Dancing-perfect.
Hubby and I celebrated out 14th Wedding Anniversary last week and we went for a lovely meal.

Anniversary meal at the Old Bore at Rishworth
So dear friends, I hope you are curled up by the fire tonight to watch a bit of TV and remember to close the curtains to the wind and rain.

Long time no post!

This blog and the reading of many others have been sadly neglected of late.
We have entered into the busiest half term at school and I don't know whether I am coming or going!

I had a lovely, if noisy week off for half term.

I had a play with some photos, started on the book for my brother and Hubby and I went shopping!

St Peter's Square
Hubby and I went to Manchester last Saturday.  It was a beautiful day as we strolled through St Peter's Square.
St Peter's Church was built in 1788 but demolished in 1907, the many graves and vaults still remain under the pavements and roads in the square.

The Midland Hotel
We walked past the Midland Hotel.

We went in search of a dining table and chairs, and some lighting. I found the most fantastic chandelier for my work room! I know so over-the-top but I couldn't resist!

There are some beautiful old buildings in Manchester but also some fantastic new architecture.
The new kitchen is almost in and the tiler has started on the en suite. I will post some photos at the weekend. Hubby is away tonight so it's a DVD in front of the fire with Lucy and chocolate cheesecake for me!!!
