It seems such a long, long time ago and I really should just give up this blog as it is clear I can't keep up to date with it. But...
In April we went on our very first cruise.
We set sail on P&O Arvia from SouthamptonAs you can see I was well prepared!
We were sailing the Norwegian Fjords.
we arrived at Haugesund early on day two. It was a lovely sunny spring day.
Day two was Olden.
and a walk to see the Briksdal Glacier
and a lovely sail away from the locals.
we sail two more fjords then next morning arrive at Alesund
Where we got off the BIG ship onto a smaller boat for a fjord cruise! It was fast!
Back at Alesund and we took the Little Blue Train for a tour around the town.
It is famous for it's Art Nouveau buildings.
Back on board we were entertained by Chesney Hawkes that evening.
The next morning was our last port of call, Stravanger.
It rained...all day.
Such a pretty place to walk around.
We hid from the rain in the museum.
and then it was time to say goodbye to Norway.
We watched The Privateers in the theatre and a lovely evening meal. We then had a full day at sea before arriving at Southampton early the last morning.
So we can tick off our first cruise. Would we go on another one? yes definitely. We could not fault the staff and P&O, the entertainment, cabin and food were excellent. Value for money was also good. The places we stopped off at were perfect for us to get a taste of Norway and has made us think we may like to return one day. Now I will have to say despite doing thousands of steps (mostly just around the huge ship!) I definitely put weight on. The restaurants were varied and plenty, we opted to pay a very small supplement most evenings to eat at some restaurants and the Limelight Club but it was well worth it, especially Green and Co, a plant based restaurant. so here is a few montages of the food to whet your appetite!!
