Athletic footwear for enhancing foot and lower limb stability in netball players
Athletic footwear for enhancing foot and lower limb stability in netball players
Introduction: Netball requires players to perform rapid accelerations and decelerations, changes of directions and frequent jumping. These dynamic movements place very high stresses on the lower limb, contributing to a high prevalence of foot and lower limb injuries. Given these demands, maintaining adequate stability is essential for reducing the risk of injury and optimising performance. Netball-specific footwear is a primary extrinsic factor that may enhance lower limb stability, given they are designed to support the foot, provide protection, and attenuate impact forces.
Do the feet of male and female netball players differ in shape? Implications for shoe design
Do the feet of male and female netball players differ in shape? Implications for shoe design
A large proportion of netball players suffer foot-related problems and pain and are dissatisfied with current netball-specific footwear. To improve the fit and functionality of netball-specific sho...

Can athletic footwear design features reduce anterior cruciate ligament forces during single-leg landing in young females?
Can athletic footwear design features reduce anterior cruciate ligament forces during single-leg landing in young females?
Introduction: The risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in young females is approximately three times higher compared to their male counterparts. Elevated ACL injury risk is likely linked to sex-specific biomechanical characteristics including elevated tri-planar knee moments (i.e., knee flexion, knee valgus, and internal tibial rotation) which increase ACL loads. Whilst exercise-based injury prevention programs can reduce the risk of ACL injury, the need for experienced coaching staff to implement such prevention programs is a barrier.

Effect of high and low‐supportive footwear on female tri‐planar knee moments during single limb landing
Background Higher landing-related external knee joint moments at later stages of female pubertal development likely contribute to a higher incidence of non-contact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) i...
