About
My name is Daniel, I’m a PhD researcher in speech recognition at the University of West London. I’m building an open-access dataset of English learners, spoken by adults who learned the language inside the UK.
What’s the study?
We are recording a wide range of non-native pronunciations to improve access to freely available, ethically obtained speech data, and the development of pronunciation-feedback tools for UK focused English. The project is ethically approved (UWL REC Ref MRPL2-2025-01) and fully GDPR-compliant.
What do participants do?
Read 100 - 300 short sentences aloud at their own pace, using their current, natural pronunciation.
Total time is 10 - 30 min depending on how long you'd like to record for.
