Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana has granted more than 19,000 wishes to critically ill children across its tri-state service area since launching operations in 1983. The chapter maintains a network of over 2,000 volunteers who help identify eligible wish recipients, coordinate wish experiences, and support fundraising initiatives. Each granted wish requires between $6,500 and $7,500 in direct funding to fulfill. The organization hosts signature fundraising galas annually in Cincinnati and Columbus to sustain its wish-granting mission. These black-tie events feature gourmet dining, live and silent auctions, and presentations from families who have received wishes. Corporate partners and individual donors provide financial support through event sponsorships, auction item donations, and direct contributions. Research conducted by Make-A-Wish demonstrates the medical and emotional benefits of granted wishes for both children and their families. The chapter focuses on three core impact areas: improving children's physical and emotional wellbeing, strengthening family resilience during medical treatment, and fostering community engagement. Wish experiences are coordinated across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana through partnerships with healthcare providers, donors, and volunteers.
