How do I get WIC Food Benefits on my eWIC Card?

At your WIC appointment, your local office will add your family's food benefits to your eWIC account. Appointments have to continue to be completed for benefits to be issued.

What if I Miss a WIC Appointment?

Future appointments must be completed in order for us to issue benefits on your eWIC card. Please call us at 518-288-3232 to reschedule your missed appointment. We will try our best to get you in as soon as possible per our schedule.

How Do I Set Up My PIN?

It is very important to set up your PIN number before going shopping. Your eWIC card will be denied if you have not set up your PIN.

To set your PIN up: Call the 1-844 number on the back of your card. It will bring you to an automated system that will ask you to enter your DOB, Zip code, enter a 4-digit PIN of your choice and re-enter it. Once you set up your PIN your card is active and ready to use.

Using my WIC Card in the Store

- Your eWIC card may be used at any WIC- approved grocery store in the state of NY (you card will only work in NYS; it will NOT work in any other state).

- Pick a checkout lane that accepts WIC

- Walmart is the only grocery store that allows you to use your WIC card through self- checkout.

- You MUST check out at a register with a cashier at all other grocery stores.

- When your items are rung up & your balance is due - swipe your eWIC card and enter your PIN number. Always use eWIC as the first payment option. Your WIC- approved items will come off the balance, then you can pay for anything else with any other payment the store allows.

*WIC cannot reimburse any products paid out of pocket.

Does my WIC Appointment Have to be in Person?

WIC Appointments can be completed over the phone or in-person. The decision is up to you; whatever works best for you and your family!

What do I need for my WIC appointment?

Accepted Answer

For Certification Appointments: Proof of Address, Income, and I.D. are required for all persons being certified. Current heights and weights for all those certifying.

For non-certification appointments: We will call you at least 3 times during a certification period for quick check- ins & benefit issuance. Height and Weights are encouraged but not required.

How do I get a Replacement Card?

Getting a replacement card is easy! 
Call us at 518-288-3232 during office hours. Replacement cards may be picked up at our main office in Ballston Spa. They may also be mailed.

If you would like your replacement mailed, we will have to verify your address before mailing it out.
