Resources, peer support, and care tools for family members supporting a youth impacted by a parent’s substance use and challenges (commonly known as an addiction/ substance use disorder)

Whether you prefer 1:1 or group sessions, our peer support tools and mentorship groups are available 1:1 or group setting, and are for young people growing up with the stress and stigma of parental addiction and their caregivers.
Family Caregiver support session
Family Caregiver support session
A space for adult caregivers who have a young person in their life who is affected by the stress and stigma of a parent's substance use (addiction) to learn about our resources and supports, while asking questions in a small peer community.

A group aimed for 16-30 year olds who have grown up with the stress and stigma of a parent's substance use. Various topics each month including grief, boundaries, safe people and spaces, dreams and more

Donate to Help our Peers Support More Youth
By donating to Starlings, you are supporting our team of volunteers to support the hope and healing of youth and families through our:Forward with Hope Peer Program:By donating, you are supporting us in distributing 50-100 free Forward with Hope kits to youth and/or their caregivers in Alberta. Valued at over $100 each, we can only distribute this essential and peer-driven support through the financial contributions of our community.Peer Mentorship Program: Your donation fuels our peer mentorship collective, a passionate community for individuals impacted by the stigma of parental substance use, who are eager to harness their experiences for positive change.Resource development and dissemination: Our volunteers are continuously innovating new resources to co-create and disseminate to youth and adults with lived experience. Your donation fuels our volunteers through an honorarium program and allows us to offer community members who access our support free tools.
