About Us

Lightning Tower Press is an independent publisher and a family-run and woman-owned company based in New York. Lightning Tower Press is dedicated to publishing underrepresented voices and fiction, nonfiction, and poetry with the aim to help, heal, hear, or otherwise support its readers.

Sal Mingoia always urged his two daughters to do what they love: to make time for the hobbies they love, to choose careers they love, to live lives they love. Avid readers, his daughters Samantha and Gina always made time to read. When Gina chose to pursue a career in writing (because she loves it), she and Samantha realized just how difficult it is to break into the writing world. Many publishers require literary agents, making it difficult for breakthrough writers to have their works considered for publication, and, upon publication, many publishers demand a large portion of proceeds from the book’s sales. This makes it incredibly difficult for writers to be writers. So, after years of complaining about publisher gatekeeping, Samantha and Gina decided to simply start their own company: Lightning Tower Press. Lightning Tower Press, in the memory of Sal Mingoia, is dedicated to helping writers do what they love: write.
