Wow, did I get lucky this Yuletide!! I got not one but two fantabulous gift fics, both based on The Black Stallion books!! If you loved these books even a fraction as much as I did as a kid, and still do!, please rush right over and read them. You won't regret it! And if so inclined, it would be lovely if you will leave the authors feedback. Yuletide is for tiny fandoms, so I know they will appreciate it very much.

Here are my two gift fics:

1. Little Luxuries.
Summary: In which everybody is a little bit naughty.
My comments: Stunningly beautiful imagery and writing, with a bonus lovely look at a character we don't usually see much of, Mrs. Dailey. Plus exactly what I wanted: lots of Alec and the Black. :-)

2. One with his Horse
Summary: Unfortunately, Alec Ramsey and the Black don't always see eye to eye.
My comments: A wonderfully vivid story about Alec and the Black competing in a race. Will put you right there in the action with them. Yay!!

Dear Yuletide Author,
Thank you so very much for being 'my' writer! I can't wait to read what you come up with, and I hope that you'll enjoy writing it as much as I will enjoy reading it! Have fun and don't stress! Whatever you write for me I know I will love.

Hopefully I've provided enough info for whichever request you are assigned. In general I'm a happy ending sort of person, especially for Yuletide, although a little angst along the way is certainly fine. I love well-written humor, in particular witty dialog. I enjoy mild hurt/comfort as well (emphasis on the comfort). And romance, I'm a sucker for romance. :) But non-con, dub-con, bdsm and sad endings are not my cup of Yuletide cheer.

My AO3 account can be found here. But I also have a website: More Than Either Alone, where you will find additional pics in various fandoms, mainly The Lord of the Rings.

My three requests are behind the cut. (PLEASE NOTE ANYONE ELSE READING THIS: CONTAINS POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 OF THE GOOD PLACE.)

I signed up for Get Your Words Out and they posted a fun challenge today:

Based on the Whose Line Is It, Anyway game 'Ninety-Second Alphabet', your challenge is to write a story, scene, or poem that begins each line with every letter of the alphabet. You’ll be given the letter to start with, and then you must continue through the alphabet and get back to your starting letter.

I was given the letter 'G' to start with and came up with the following bit of G to F Woodjin silliness, because the first G word that jumped into my mind was, of course, Gollykeeper. *g* The unofficial time limit was 10 minutes, but I did exceed it.

Way behind on this, thanks to working 7 days in a row without a break. Ugh.

Day 11
In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing.

Phil Dragash. His audio version of The Lord of the Rings, even though sadly sabotaged by an asshole with a grudge who reported him to the Tolkien estate, was the best ever, far beyond Rob Inglis or anyone else. It was a pure passion project, complete with spot on voices of the various characters, sound effects, and Howard Shore's gorgeous score to back it all up. That he was able to produce this phenomenal audio version without using a sound studio or professional equipment, just in his apartment when his roommate wasn't home, blows my mind. I hate that he was shut down, but I thank him over and over for giving us this gift and I'm so thankful I was able to save the whole thing before Youtube deleted them.

Day 12
In your own space, post a rec for fannish spaces and resources - comms, challenges, twitters, tumblrs, etc. Tell us about where you hang out.

Sadly there are no dedicated Frodo/Sam or Sean/Elijah communities left. There just isn't enough fandom to support them anymore. But you can still go and check out Tol Eressëa if so inclined. We did leave open the possibility of reviving it if the fandom wakes up again. Meanwhile, there's still a lot of great fic, artwork, etc. there to browse.

I'll also put in a pimp for the Froday Flash Fiction Challenge community if you're looking for a fun place to do some writing - all fandoms welcome. Lots of fun writing challenges there!

Day 13
In your own space, write about a moment in fandom that meant a lot to you.

Wow, there are a lot of these! Picking one is really hard. But maybe the day I posted the final chapter of The Woodjin. Completing a novel-length fic of almost 170,000 words was a huge achievement for me, but what made it super special was how many people came on the journey with me and were there to celebrate with me at the finish. That meant more to me than I can ever say!!

Day 14
Go forth and commit an act of kindness.

Done! :-)

In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (More than one is okay, too.) Tell us about it, tell us why you love it, give us some examples and recs.

Here are tropes I enjoy and often write:
Age difference, AUs, Reunions, Gay for (as in Sean is gay for Elijah, Sam is gay for Frodo), UST, Hurt/Comfort (light on the hurt, heavy on the comfort), Possessiveness, Romance, Dislike at first sight, Animal transformation, First times, Diaries.

Recs for some (mostly) nice long stories with these tropes, all by other writers:

AU: Sean/Elijah Travelers by Keye

AU: Sean/Elijah Sanctuary by Ink Gypsy and Keye

AU: Sean/Elijah Blue by Randominity

AU and Animal transformation: Sean/Elijah Cougar Xing by Lady Ra

Romance and First time: Frodo/Sam Lover's Day by Res

UST: Frodo/Sam The Making of Samwise

Reunions: Frodo/Sam Spirit by Cara Loup

Reunions: Frodo/Sam In the Undying Lands by Laura Athena (3 stories)

Diaries: Frodo/Sam Divertissement by Kaybrand

Hurt/Comfort: Lord of the Rings gen Quarantined by Shirebound (she has written lots, mostly hobbit-centric)

In your own space, create a fanwork. Make a drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. Arts and crafts. Draft a critical essay about a particular media. Put together a picspam or a fanmix. Write a review of a Broadway show, a movie, a concert, a poetry reading, a museum trip, a you-should-be-listening-to-this-band essay. Compose some limericks, haikus, free-form poetry, 5-word stories. Document a particular bit of real person canon. Take some pictures. Draw a stick-figure comic. Create something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So this is mine, a snippet of Pitch fic. If you haven't watched Pitch, I highly recommend it. I sure hope it's renewed for a second season. Love, love, love Ginny Baker so much, and the UST between her and Mike Lawson.

Title: 60 Feet, 6 Inches

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

Last time I did this, my wishes were so wonderfully granted that it seems greedy to ask for more. But what the heck!

1. Icons. It's been a while since I've had any new icons, especially of my OTPs, Frodo/Sam and Sean/Elijah. Icons tailored to any of my fics, regardless of fandom, would be totally awesome. Or any kind of icon at all for any of my interests, such as whippets, Deerhounds, birds, photography, tea, the pine barrens, hiking, nature, libraries, the beach...

2. Podfic. I've been sooooo blessed to have a number of my fics turned into podfics, but if anyone is inspired to add to the list, I'd be incredibly chuffed. Fics that have already been podficced are Huan, The Birds and the Bees, Enlightening, Castaway, The Last Room at the Inn and The Other Elijah.

3. Recs! Have you read anything wonderful lately? Perhaps a Yuletide fic or two? Or anything to do with the Fellowship on their journey? There probably isn't any Frodo/Sam or Sean/Elijah you can surprise me with, but do try. :D
