The Village of Lazy Lake is initiating a Vacation Rental Program for the regulation of short-term or vacation rentals in the Village as defined in Section 509.242, Florida Statutes. The program has been authorized by the Village Council through Ordinance number 2022-01 and Resolution 2023-03. Homeowners who are renting their property(ies) in Lazy Lake as a short-term or vacation rental are now required to fill out an application for each property and receive a Vacation Rental Certificate of Compliance before renting the property as a short-term or vacation rental. The Program goes into effect on NOVEMBER 15, 2023, and your application must be received by November 1, 2023, or the Village may take action against you for violating the Village's code.
In addition to the application, all documents referenced along with the appropriate fees must be mailed to the Village's representative. Once the packet is received and determined to be complete, an inspection of the premises will be scheduled with you or your representative. A Certificate of Compliance will thereafter be issued, which must be posted on the property.
Failure to complete the application and abide by the ordinance will result in code enforcement fines or legal action being taken against you and your property.
