This range of miniatures represents the armies of the Late Roman Empire (4th and 5th centuries AD), the era when the Western Roman Empire defended itself against the great barbarian migrations and the invasions of Goths, Vandals, and Huns. The collection features professional comitatenses soldiers armed with swords and spears, elite guards of the imperial court, and the fearsome palatini guard led by General Aetius. Each figure captures the transition from traditional armor to the oval shield of Germanic influence and the famous plumbata heavy javelins.
